MSU GATE Program

Three weeks left until the MSU GATE Summer Online Mathematics program (SuMO) starts – flyer attached.

In support of Michigan State University’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on the campus and greater community, the decision was made not to hold in-person on-campus youth and pre-college programs this summer. MSU GATE is now offering summer programs ONLINE! Applications are available here

MSU Summer GATES Program

More GATE program information below:

1) NEW Summer Mathematics Online (SuMO) - GATE Summer Mathematics ONLINE provides classroom instruction for qualified gifted students looking to complete accelerated math instruction in a shorter time beginning the week of June 1, 2020 and ending the week of August 1, 2020. In this period, students will work to complete Algebra 1, Algebra 2 or Geometry with LIVE online classes conducted by MSU GATE Mathematics instructor(s). Students are required to attend two, 2-hour math classes each week with additional tutoring labs available.  Students will receive LIVE online instruction during the week with additional time for tutoring during the labs to work through their questions and concepts.

2) Summer Online - In effort to support gifted children in Michigan and beyond, MSU GATE has developed GATE SUMMER ONLINE 2020, an interactive LIVE Zoom video based class platform for gifted students in grades 3-11.  The online courses will be LIVE with the same instructors that were originally scheduled to teach in the on campus summer program. The overall program structure has continued within each area of interest: GUPPY, MST, MSTL and IS4GT. However, in an effort to create quality online programming, some of the tracks and classes may have changed and the time structure has been somewhat shortened in an effort to limit the student’s screen time, but still allow for strong interaction during the course. Application deadline extended to June 15, 2020.

3) Academic Year Programs (CHAMP, ISHALL, ALL, & M.A.N.G.A.) still accepting applications for Fall 2020. Deadline has been extended to June 15, 2020 (M.A.N.G.A - August 10, 2020).

4) CogAT Testing - We are now accepting the CogAT test in lieu of the SAT or ACT requirements for this year’s academic year applications. Academic year application deadline has been extended to June 15, 2020. Register here for CogAT testing.
