Dear Hayes Intermediate Families,

Here is some news to get us into the weekend...

2nd Annual Hayes Intermediate 6th Grade Talent Show (GLHS Auditorium)

Hayes Intermediate is excited to present the 6th grade Talent Show! We have a night full of entertaining acts where our wonderful students will be showcasing their wide range of talents. Doors open at 5:45PM and the show will start at 6:00PM. Admission is free. Family, friends, and classmates are encouraged to join us for this special event!

All School Read Author Visit & Fundraiser

This morning Hayes students and staff had the opportunity to meet Omar Mohammed and Victoria Jamieson, the authors of our All School Read book, When Stars Are Scattered. We all enjoyed meeting them and asking questions to learn more about the real life characters we have read about over the past three weeks. During the visit students heard Omar talk about the library he is currently working to build in Dadaa through a nonprofit organization called Refugee Strong. Many students and staff expressed interest in supporting his building of that library. To that end, we will continue to accept donations through next week. After spring break we will present our donations to Omar for the library on behalf of Hayes students and staff. A donation of $15 will buy a new book for their library!
Here is a link to a
flier showing what a donation to Refugee Strong can do for children and families in refugee camps, where they often live for 20 years or more. If you're interested in making a donation, simply send in any amount you'd like with your student and their teacher will collect the money and then we will send one check on behalf of our caring Hayes Families & Staff.

Progress Report/Conference Feedback

Parent Teacher Conferences finished this week and we debuted a new progress report. We would like feedback on this progress report and also on the Parent Teacher Conference experience. Please fill out this form to let us know.

Next PTO Meeting This Week - Board Needs Members

The Hayes-Beagle Parent Teacher Organization has worked hard to provide opportunities for students and staff over the past 3 years that would not have been available without a PTO. Several PTO Board members will be leaving the PTO as their students age into High School. The commitment is as little as an hour a month for the meeting and you can help with fun jobs such as buying treats for students and staff. You can also help plan the dances and other activities that your student will participate in! Without a board, the PTO is legitimately in danger of ceasing to exist. Please come to the next meeting on March 19th at the Beagle Middle School Media Center at 6:30 PM to find out more. You can also join via Zoom - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994

International Day
We invite you to join us for International Day this year on April 13 from 2-6 at Beagle Middle School. International Day is a day to celebrate our cultural diversity and to learn from each other!  There are many different ways to participate in this special day. You may simply attend and enjoy watching performances, looking at displays or admiring clothing. Or, you may wish to create a display, perform or be a part of the fashion show (please sign up using the provided forms). We look forward to seeing you and your family!

Hayes Happenings
Hayes Happenings is our weekly news show that is student directed, produced, and edited under the guidance of teachers Jacque Cosgrove and Allison Shumate. Each Monday, the class analyzes and critiques the episode from the previous week as they improve over the course of the trimester. Here is a link to the March 15th episode!
