About Our School

From the Principal

From the moment you enter Wacousta Elementary School, you will notice our unique learning environment.  Our teachers and support staff are caring professionals who work hard to ensure our students have the optimum learning experience each day.

Wacousta Elementary is located in the heart of mid-Michigan in the village of Wacousta.  We are part of Grand Ledge Public Schools and serve an attendance area that encompasses an area from just north of the village of Wacousta southward into the northern part of the city of Grand Ledge.  The I-96 corridor runs through the center of our attendance area.  Our school currently serves approximately four hundred and seventy students in grades kindergarten through fourth.  Students enjoy a wide range of learning experiences and weekly exposure to art, music, and physical education.  We sit on a large campus with ample playground space.

Wacousta Elementary School is a unique building with its "open concept" classrooms.  Classes are generally grouped together by grade level in large areas of the building with fewer walls than a traditional school.  Classes are divided by portable walls and furniture that can be moved and adjusted to fit the paricular needs of a class and activity.  This configuration provides our students and staff with the opportunity for increased flexibility, communication, cooperation, and sense of community within our school building.

Please feel free to stop in and say hello whenever you are in the building.

Sincerely,
Christopher Groves, Principal
Wacousta Elementary School
