Meet the Board



         Kim Mulvenna - President 2017


Mrs. Mulvenna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from DePaul University (Chicago). She has an extensive background in finance, banking, tax sheltered investments and real estate. Kim and her husband, Mark, have lived in the district since 1994 and have a son that graduated from Grand Ledge Schools.  Mrs. Mulvenna has served as the Board Representative on the Grand Ledge Parks & Recreation Committee.  She has been a member of the Grand Ledge Board of Education since 2001.  Her current term expires December 30, 2020.



         Linda Wacyk - Vice President 2017


Ms. Wacyk currently serves as a communications consultant for a number of K-12 education organizations.  She has lived in the district since 1990 and graduated four children from Grand Ledge Public Schools.  Since moving to the district, Ms. Wacyk has always been an active volunteer within the Grand Ledge Public Schools and since 1998 has served as a member of the Grand Ledge Area Alliance, a business-school-community based partnership.  Linda served on the Grand Ledge Board of Education from 2001 - 2005 and was re-elected in 2008. Her current term expires December 30, 2018.


          Jon Shiflett - Secretary 2017


Mr. Shiflett currently serves as Deputy Legislative Director to the Michigan Senate Majority Leader and as a member of the Board of Directors of the YES Center in Grand Ledge.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and received his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Cooley Law School in 2010.  He and his wife are both proud graduates of Grand Ledge High School and have one child.  Mr. Shiflett was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education in May 2012 and won the November 2012 election to fill the remainder of the vacancy through 2014.  In November 2014 Mr. Shiflett won re-election on the Board of Education.  His current term expires December 30, 2018. 


        Sara Clark Pierson 2017 Trustee


Mrs. Clark Pierson is an Administrative Law Specialist with the Office of Tax Policy, Michigan Department of Treasury. She is an attorney and a certified public accountant. Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University (Boston). Sara and her husband, David, returned to the Grand Ledge area in 1990, but her family history in the community is extensive. Along with Sara, three generations of her family have graduated from Grand Ledge Public Schools including her parents, her nine brothers and sisters and her three children. She has also served on the Clinton County Board of Commissioners, Public Health Board, the Tri-County Mental Health Board, and Capital Region Foundation Board and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 10 years.  Sara has served on the Grand Ledge Board of Education since 2002.  Her current term expires December 30, 2022.


Beverly Winstanley Trustee 2017        



Mrs. Winstanley holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Health Care Administration, along with an MBA in Management.  Beverly is a retired Lieutenant Commander serving 22 years in the U.S.  Navy.  Beverly and her husband, Jim, have lived in the Grand Ledge area since 2003 and have a son attending Grand Ledge High School.  The Winstanley's are also serving as a host family for a foreign exchange student through the Youth for Understanding program.  For the past seven years she has worked as a substitute teacher. Mrs. Winstanley was appointed to to fill a vacancy on the Board in January 2012 and won election to fill the remainder of the vacancy through 2014 in the November 2012 election.  She subsequently won re-election in the November 2014.  Mrs. Winstanley's term expires on December 30, 2018.
