Dear Beagle Middle Families,

Here are some updates we wanted to share at this time:

Winter NWEA Testing:  As we shared via text this week, we have moved our Winter NWEA testing dates on account of the snow days we’ve had this week.  Students will take the Math NWEA test on Thursday, January 25th; the ELA NWEA test will be on Tuesday, January 30th.  Students will report to CNC first thing in the morning to engage in testing for the morning hours, and then they will attend all classes sans CNC later in the day.  Lunch will also be provided based on the altered schedule.  Please remind students to charge their Chromebooks fully at home the evening before each test.  Students that are absent for testing or need to finish NWEA testing will be pulled by our counselors to finish testing the following days.

Winter Fest Dance: The PTO sponsored Winter Fest Dance will take place on Friday, January 26th from 6:30 to 8:30. This is a casual attire dance. Tickets will be sold for $10 during lunch on the 26th as well as at the door. We do need volunteers to help make this dance happen. Please sign up using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094CAAAE2DAAF49-47155171-beagle.  Students must be picked up by a family member from the dance; students are not allowed to walk home from the dance to ensure their safety.   We encourage parents to use both the main and South parking lots to pick up students after the dance; staff will supervise the walkway to the South parking lot.  By using both of these parking lots and parking in an actual parking space, we can cut down on the traffic and congestion after the dance, especially in the pick-up loop.  Please communicate your pick-up plans with your student before the dance to also help expedite this process.

8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip Update:  Our next fundraiser will kick off on Thursday, January 25th. The students will get the forms for the Burrito fundraiser in their history class.
Important Dates for the fundraiser:

  • January 25th kick off:  order forms given to students
  • February 8th forms and money due to your child's history teacher
  • February 20th burritos will be delivered to Beagle and ready to be picked up between 3:30 - 5:30 - these are perishable items that must be kept refrigerated and delivered asap.

If you have questions about the trip or the fundraiser, please contact your student’s 8th grade Social Studies teacher.

Chromebooks: Since we are nearly halfway through the school year, we wanted to send along a gentle reminder to parents regarding the care and maintenance of school-issued Chromebooks and chargers.  While we do understand that accidents can and do happen and we always try to be as fair as possible when making these determinations, we have seen an influx in damaged Chromebooks and even chargers throughout this school year.  In accordance with our district-wide technology agreement, damaged devices will result in fees based on the severity and type of damage, and we cannot issue students another Chromebook until those fees are paid.  Please continue to encourage your students to take great care of their school-issued technology, and please encourage them to keep their Chromebooks stored inside during the winter months (not in parent vehicles oversight).

Who To Contact When Issues Arise: We wanted to also pass this along as a reminder to our families: https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/beagle-middle-school/aboutourschool/who-to-contact/

PTO Meetings: The Hayes/Beagle PTO meetings will be hosted here at Beagle Middle School in our media center.  Parents should enter through the cafeteria doors as they are open for athletic events.  The media center is located in the first hallway to the left once in the cafeteria.  Meetings are held from 6:30-7:30pm.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 13th. We greatly appreciate parent support and participation at these meetings.  In addition, please follow the Hayes & Beagle PTO Facebook page for more information and updates regarding upcoming events.
