Highlights and Happenings from Ms. Smith
It was a great week at Wacousta as students wrapped up MSTEP, NWEA, and DIBELS testing, bringing testing season to a close. Our students worked incredibly hard, and as an entire school community, we saw tremendous growth and progress. As a school we scored within the High Achievement/High Growth quadrant on NWEA, which means students are achieving at high levels and continuing to make impressive academic growth over time. We are so proud of the effort, perseverance, and learning our students demonstrated throughout the year. Be on the lookout for your child’s assessment scores coming home next week.

While we are proud of our students’ academic growth, we are equally excited to celebrate the many talents and gifts that cannot be measured by a test. Tonight’s “Fine Arts Night” is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the creativity and talent of our students. We are so thankful for the way Wacousta and Grand Ledge educators support the development of the whole child and create opportunities for every student to shine.

National Speech Language Hearing Month
May is National Speech Language Hearing Month! This month we engage in learning about and celebrating speech language pathologists and audiologists! You may see these professionals working in hospitals, private clinics, and even schools! School services could look like supporting young children with learning how to produce speech sounds, assisting a student in getting appropriate hearing support, collaborating with a team to help a student increase their comprehension of grade level texts, providing and incorporating use of visuals for a student who has limited verbal communication, and so much more!
