From Our Principal

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and time off. This week, teachers and staff reviewed PBIS expectations and daily procedures with students to help keep our school running smoothly.

Next week, we will begin NWEA and Acadience (DIBELS) assessments. Our winter data is critical as it directly drives instruction, helping to strengthen teaching and learning. It prepares students for mastering grade-level standards and getting ready for success on the M-STEP. Look for communication from your child’s teacher about specific dates and ensure your child is well-rested and has a healthy breakfast.

Our doors open at 8:40 AM, and school begins promptly at 8:55 AM with students settled in their classrooms. Each day, up to 10% of our student body arrives late, causing disruptions and missing important instruction and routines. Your support in ensuring your child arrives on time is crucial for creating a smooth and productive start to the day. Thank you for helping us set your child up for success!

On Wednesday, we practiced a lockdown drill, and I’m pleased to share that all staff and students responded quickly, and quietly, and followed all protocols in place. These practice drills help ensure everyone knows how to stay safe.

Winter is here.  Please be sure that your child has appropriate clothing for the wintertime. Students will be going outside when the windchill is 0 degrees or higher. We only stay inside if the temperature is below 0 degrees with the windchill.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Special Needs Fingerprint Event » 2:00-6:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2025

Eaton Regional Education Services Agency (RESA) and the Meadowview School Parent Advisory Committee will host an event for students and community members to enroll in the Michigan State Police (MSP) Vulnerable or Impaired Person (VIP) program on January 13, 2025, from 2 - 6 pm.

The event is open to any students or community members who would like to enroll in the VIP program, a voluntary program designed for individuals with special needs. Program participants are fingerprinted and photographed (optional). The information gathered is then added to the State of Michigan repository and can be used to assist in identifying individuals should they become lost or find themselves in a situation in which they cannot identify themselves.

Parents or guardians must complete a consent and enrollment form in order to enroll an individual in the VIP program. The program was developed after the passage of “Bubba’s Bill” which allows for parents of an individual with special needs to voluntarily enroll children in the program.

Once enrolled in the VIP program, law enforcement has the ability to utilize a Live Scan device or mobile fingerprint scanner to access the information to quickly identify a person who may have trouble identifying themselves.

WHEN: Monday, January 13, 2025, 2-6 PM

WHERE: Eaton RESA, 1790 Packard Hwy, Charlotte, MI 48813 – Please enter through door marked with “Event” sign

Interested individuals can learn more and complete the registration form for the event. Forms may be completed during the event or drop it off in advance at Eaton RESA. Please contact Meadowview School at 517.541.8750 with any questions.
