GLPS Families,
We wrapped up another week here at GLPS! The seniors are officially done, and we had our last staff professional learning session of the year today. With two weeks left in the school year, we still have a lot to fit in, but summer is certainly in the air!
As we begin to think about closing the books on the 2025-2026 school year, it is important that we continue to strive to meet your needs and the needs of your families. We have provided multiple opportunities for feedback throughout the year, including student conversations and surveys and our Caregiver School Improvement Team. This year, I also added invitations for randomly selected families to talk with me directly about their experiences.
However, to remain consistent and focus on growth, it is important to have comparable data points year over year. To those ends, I am inviting you to take a moment to provide us with that data by clicking HERE and rating us on how well we are living up to the values that form the backbone of our work in the district. There is a spot for you to leave comments, but that is certainly optional. I encourage you to talk with your child before answering these questions; after all, they are ultimately the ones who benefit from our ability to live up to these statements. This is the same survey I asked you to complete the last couple of years, as we want to track our performance.
As you know, GLPS operates through our strategic plan, which outlines our mission, vision, beliefs, and focus areas. My weekly messages often mention these areas, and I have shared this graphic with you before:
Success in our focus areas is measured by our progress toward meeting the goals that are aligned to them, but measuring how successfully we are living up to our mission, vision, and beliefs requires us to understand how you, your children, and the community feel about the work we are doing. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with this important feedback; the survey will close on June 1st, so I will give you some additional reminders between now and then.
As I wrap up my message today, it is important that we take a moment to pause and acknowledge the significance of Memorial Day weekend. This is a time to remember those who gave their lives for the freedoms that we enjoy every day, and for us to appreciate the sacrifices that members of our armed forces and their families make on behalf of the United States of America. Along with your travel plans, barbeques, and other fun activities this weekend, please make sure to remember the importance of the day and what it means to our country and its citizens.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you and your children every day, and thank you for your support as we serve all of Comet Country. I appreciate you and all you do to make GLPS a great place to learn and grow. As always, I am #proudtobeacomet!
