Dear Beagle Middle Families,
Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:
Scheduling Updates: We are actively working on next year’s master schedule. All student elective course requests have been entered and audited for accuracy. We are using this data to ensure a fluid master schedule for next school year. While the reality is that elective course requests are just that: requests, we do everything possible to ensure that students receive most of their primary or alternate elective course requests each year. Viewability of next year’s schedules will not be available to students or families over the summer months for a variety of reasons. We do this because as we are making changes and adjustments, PowerSchool sends unnecessary communication to both students and family members. Before we step away for the summer months, schedules are finalized, tight, and right. We will turn viewability of schedules back on for students and family members on August 17th, which is our schedule distribution/school picture day for both grade levels next school year. More specific information to come about August 17th towards the end of this school year.
Testing Updates: Good news: testing season is officially over! We are glad, and so are the students. Students have done an outstanding job this spring with attendance, effort, and perseverance during this spring testing season. While we do everything possible to spread the assessments as far apart as possible, the reality is that the spring testing season is long for our students. Despite this, we are proud of our students, and we thank our families for their continued support as well.
Thank you, PTO, for Teacher Appreciation Week: A huge shout out to our PTO for helping to celebrate our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate all that our teachers do for our students and families everyday! A special thank you goes out to Missy Charbonneau, PTO VP, for her tremendous efforts on a daily basis this week ensuring treats for our teachers were ready to go.
Interscholastic Summer-to-Fall Athletics, Coming Soon: Towards the end of each school year, we work with our athletic department to create a document with all Hayes-to-Beagle and Beagle-to-GLHS interscholastic athletic information families will need over the summer months and into the beginning of the next school year. We are actively building this all-in-one document to better support our families during the aforementioned timeframe. Once this document if final, we will begin pushing it out in our newsletters; in addition, we will have Hayes do the same for their rising 7th grade families. This document will also be posted on our website right on the front page for reference over the summer months. This way, families can plan accordingly regarding camps, tryouts, and when seasons begin in later August. More to come ASAP!
Hayes/Beagle PTO Meeting (5:30pm, time change): Our next PTO meeting will be held at Beagle Middle School in the Media Center on Tuesday, May 12th, at 5:30 p.m. If you’ve ever wondered how to get more involved at your student’s school—or how to stay up-to-date on what’s happening at Hayes and Beagle—the PTO is a great place to start. There is no cost to join, and attending a meeting is an easy way to hear updates, share ideas, and learn how fundraising supports programs and opportunities for students and staff. We’re also looking for volunteers, whether you can help once or several times during the year; we would love to have you involved. Come check it out and see how you can be part of supporting our school community.
