Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

PSAT–Thank you for your support: PSAT testing on Wednesday was very smooth for our 8th graders.  Make-up testing will continue into next week.  We thank both our 8th and 7th-grade families for their support and understanding regarding the logistics of the testing mandated by the State.  We appreciate your flexibility.

MSTEP Testing Next Week: Beginning Wednesday, April 15th, MSTEP testing will take place during 7th-grade ELA and 8th-grade Social Studies classes.  Students, unless otherwise instructed due to accommodations, will take the assessment in their assigned classroom with their ELA or Social Studies teacher.  The testing logistics for MSTEP are not as persnickety as those for the PSAT.  Testing will take at least 3-4 class periods (days) to complete for ELA; Social Studies is typically wrapped up within 2-3 class periods (days).  Make-ups for these assessments will continue into the following week.

Autism Acceptance Week Next Week: To celebrate Autism Acceptance Week, our LINKs program has organized a school spirit theme for next week:

  • Magnificent Mind Monday: wear your favorite hat to celebrate different minds.

  • Team Day Tuesday: wear your favorite sports team jersey, shirt, or color to show that we all work better together as a team.

  • Sensory Friendly Wednesday: wear cozy clothes like hoodies, soft shirts, and sneakers as feeling comfortable helps us do our best.

  • Neurodiversity Thursday: wear tye-dye, neon, or bright colors to reflect your special interest to celebrate human diversity.

  • Light It Up Blue Friday: wear blue to show your acceptance and support of autism.

Family Communication, PowerSchool: Just a friendly reminder that our teachers have a “Family Communication” section at the top of their gradebooks within PowerSchool for both family members and students to access.  The Family Communication section provides a nuts and bolts overview for the upcoming two weeks around essential learnings; and upcoming large assignments, projects, and assessments.

STEAM Showcase: Don't miss the 4th annual Beagle STEAM Showcase.  This year’s event will be held on Thursday, April 23rd from 6-7:30pm.  Each year the 2nd floor of Beagle Middle School is transformed into a different place and time with a TOP SECRET theme.  The theme will be revealed as the doors open at 6pm.  Shove It Pizza Truck and A&W will be here to celebrate the Arts & STEM programs.  Bring your friends and families as this is a community event open to all.  You won’t want to miss this one night only event!  Check out this video link for more info! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4OLSyfGyyc

We thank, Mrs. Fredericks, Mr. Jones, and several of our staff members, in advance for their ongoing efforts preparing for this event.

Library/Media Center Update: The Book Adoption Center is open for business in the entryway of the school and in the library. Look for the signs and give these books a good home! Unadopted books will be discarded on Friday April 17th. See you soon, in the library!

PTO Sponsored Spring Dance, May 1st: The PTO sponsored semi-formal Spring Dance will be on Friday, May 1st from 6-8 pm.  Tickets will be sold the day of the dance during both lunches, and they will also be sold at the door the evening of the dance.  Tickets are $10.  This will be a great opportunity for our students, and we thank the PTO and our Comet Council for hosting this event.

Kona Ice: Kona Ice will be here during both lunches for the next several Fridays.  Students can purchase a Kona Ice for $4-7.  Proceeds support our PBIS team, which ultimately goes back to supporting our students.

Hayes/Beagle PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting will be held at Beagle Middle School in the Media Center on Tuesday, April 14th, at 6:30 p.m. If you’ve ever wondered how to get more involved at your student’s school—or how to stay up-to-date on what’s happening at Hayes and Beagle—the PTO is a great place to start. There is no cost to join, and attending a meeting is an easy way to hear updates, share ideas, and learn how fundraising supports programs and opportunities for students and staff. We’re also looking for volunteers, whether you can help once or several times during the year; we would love to have you involved. Come check it out and see how you can be part of supporting our school community.
