Hayes Staff vs. Student Volleyball
We held the Unified Champion School Staff vs Students Volleyball games on Friday, May 31st. Separate games were held with 5th and 6th Grade students. Both games were hard fought and full of crunch time plays. Everyone involved played with all their heart and had a great time!
Potter Park Zoo Field Trip
6th Graders will be going to Potter Park Zoo this coming Wednesday June 5th. Due to the generous support of the PTO (and the fundraising efforts of Hayes Intermediate Families), all students will be able to attend at no cost to them. Please note: parents who are serving as chaperones will be responsible for paying their own admission to the zoo.
Field Day Schedule
5th grade Field Day is June 11th and 6th grade Field Day is June 12th. Half the grade will participate in the AM and the other half in the PM. Please see below for the schedule and the links to sign up to volunteer.

Hayes Chromebook Crew - Parent Volunteers Needed
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the end of the year Chromebook Crew at Hayes to inspect devices and prep them to be ready for next year! No tech experience necessary!
Available dates are June 5, 6, 7 from 7:30-11:30 am (Additional backup dates June 10, 11, & 12)

We currently need parents to help chaperone field days in June! Click Here to fill out our volunteer registration form if you would like to see your student in action on Field Day!
Volunteer registration can take up to a week to process so please fill it out ASAP!
How is Your Student Getting Home? Let us know by 2:00 PM
If your student is getting home a different way than normal please call the office by 2:00 pm to let the secretaries know of the change. After 2pm we cannot guarantee that the message will get to your student.
PM Back Carline Update
The PM back carline is still open to all 6th Grade families! It has been a great success, with most families in and out in a few minutes. The back carline is accessed from the Grand Ledge Public Schools Operations Drive (Penny Lane) for parents to pick up students in the afternoon. The back carline is accessible to 6th graders from either the Band Room or from Door #11. If you want your student to use the back carline, please let them know. Otherwise, 6th graders can still continue to use the front carline if you prefer.
Puberty: The Wonder Years
5th and 6th grade students started receiving instruction from the curriculum Puberty: The Wonder Years this week. Students may bring homework assignments home that encourage them to discuss issues related to puberty, relationships, and sexual behavior with their families. If a parent is not available for these assignments, parents are asked to help their students identify another trusted adult with whom they can talk. Families have expressed appreciation for this family discussion tool.
Kona Ice
Kona Ice will be at Hayes on Thursday, June 13th! If students would like to purchase a Kona Ice they can bring cash to school that day and purchase one during their lunch period! Prices are $4, $5, $6, and for $7 you can get a color-changing cup. Proceeds go to support our awesome PTO.
END OF YEAR MEDICATION PICKUP!!!
If your student currently has medication @ Hayes Intermediate School: The deadline for medication pickup on June 14th, 2024 is 10:50am.
June 17th we will be available from 7am - 2pm. After this deadline, all medication will be disposed of. If your child will need medications at school for the 2024/25 school year, you can get that paperwork then as well. That will give you time to get all required Physician signatures by the start of the school year.
If your student is attending summer learning, please contact your building's office to make arrangements to leave your medication for summer learning.
Please be aware that students ARE NOT allowed to transport medication home on the bus.

The lost and found is overflowing. Please encourage your student(s) to look for any missing items. We will be donating all items in the lost and found on June 17th.
