BK/Kindergarten Rec Basketball Clinic

This boy's clinic is designed to teach the basics of basketball in a group setting. The Grand Ledge Varsity Basketball Coach, Luke Charter and HS Players will be leading this clinic.

Saturday's, 11/7 - 12/19 (6 weeks) (No 11/28)

Kindergarten (includes Begindergarten & K Plus) @ 9:00 - 10:00am

Location: GLHS Main Gym - Enter Door #9 (across from tennis courts)

Fee: $65

NEW! 1st Grade Rec Basketball League

Boys will be placed on teams based on school. Practices and Games will take place on Saturdays @ GLHS Main Gym. Teams will split the court and practice for the first 30 minutes. Practice plans will be drawn up and instructed to HS players each week by the Varsity Head Coach. The second half a game will be played. (4) 5 minute quarters with a 2 minute break in between. Teams are coached and games are reffed by GLHS players.

League Dates: Saturday's, 11/7 - 12/19 (no clinic 11/28)

Time: 

Practices will run from 10am - 10:25am

Games will run from 10:30am-11:00am

League Location: GLHS Main Gym

League Fee: $65 (includes a GL Basketball team t-shirt) - Handed out on the first day at check in

Registration Deadline: Tue., Oct. 27, 2027

2nd & 3rd Grade Rec Basketball Leagues

This 6 week basketball league gives participants the chance to play refereed games against other participants of their own grade level. Teams will practice once per week, day/time chosen by the volunteer coach at the coaches meeting. Teams are formed by school and grade, but school teams may need to be split or combined to allow for equal team numbers. Special requests for coaches or teammates are not guaranteed and will be limited per team.

Practices: Start the week of January 4, 2027 (day/time/location is chosen by the volunteer coach at the coaches meeting) **No Practices During Holiday Break 12/21-1/3**

League Dates: Saturday's, 1/16 - 2/20 (6 games + tournament) 

End of Season Tournament will be held on Saturday 2/27

Game Location: Beagle Middle School Gyms ~ 600 South St.

Game Times: Morning & Early Afternoon (Exact Time TBD)

Registration Fee: $65

Registration Deadline: December 6, 2026

$10 Late Fee After 12/6/26

Late registrations will be accepted online until December 15th or until full. After 12/15 you can call the Community Rec Office to see if there is still room to register.

Participants will be required to purchase (if you don't already have one) a GL blue/gold reversible jersey. These can be purchased at 1st Place Sports or Sports Stop on Bridge St. in Downtown Grand Ledge.

Coaches Meeting: Wednesday, December 16th, 6:30pm @ Beagle Cafeteria

You will not hear from your coach till after the coaches meeting.

3RD, 4TH, 5TH & 6TH GRADE

IN 2021 The GLPS Athletic Department has combined forces with the Grand Ledge Youth Basketball Association in efforts to streamline youth basketball in the community. All 3rd - 6th grade boys interested in playing basketball will need to attend an evaluation conducted by the basketball trainers and pervious coaches (all skill levels are encouraged to attend). Players will be placed on teams based on their potential position and skills. 1 team will be formed for 3rd grade and 3 levels of teams will be created - Gold - Silver - Bronze, for 4th-6th grade. In 4th - 6th grade we try are hardest to place everyone on a team. All GL teams will participate in the Red Cedar Basketball League where they'll play against other community based teams of the same grade and skill level. Coaches are volunteers and will be guided and trained by the MS & HS basketball coaching staff. Teams will practice in GLPS gyms and home games will be held at the Middle School and High School. Away game locations will vary in the Tri-County area.
