From Our Principal
Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!
Seeing your support during our Open House was a testament to your dedication to your child’s success. When students entered Delta Center on Tuesday, they were thrilled to be back—smiles, giggles, and excitement about returning warmed our hearts. We look forward to building a strong partnership with you, always keeping your child’s educational success as our top priority. My door is always open, and I welcome opportunities to strengthen school and community connections with our Delta Center families.
Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for student success, as it directly impacts learning, academic performance, and social development. Please note, the only excused absences from a truancy referral are doctor’s notes reflecting your student’s absence. The district is working closely with Eaton County Truancy Officers to help mitigate and lessen student absences. We will dive into this in more detail in next week’s newsletter.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
At Delta Center, our goal is to create a culture of competence and safety. To support this, we use PBIS—a system that reinforces a common set of behavior expectations. We encourage students to demonstrate our STAR behaviors: being Safe, Trustworthy, Attentive, and Respectful. Teachers have already begun lessons on classroom expectations to create a positive classroom culture, and next week, we will expand to school-wide PBIS lessons focused on shared spaces like the lunchroom and playground.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Thank you for following our drop-off and pick-up procedures! Students have been able to safely walk the sidewalks and start their day ready to learn. Dismissal using the student loading zone is going well; however, we are making small adjustments to further improve safety, such as adding clearly identified loading zones and a crosswalk in the north parking lot. Thank you for your patience and grace as we refine these procedures to keep everyone safe.
Newsletter and Important Dates
For those new to Delta Center, I provide a weekly newsletter to keep families informed about our school, programs, and upcoming events. The intent is to foster regular, ongoing communication between home and school. “Dates to Remember” are included each week, and school calendars are also available in the office and online.
As Labor Day approaches, we recognize this holiday’s significance in honoring the hard work and contributions of all who strengthen our communities. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for our students to reflect on the values of hard work, teamwork, and cooperation. We hope you enjoy this special time with your family, and we look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready to learn!
As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Teresa Dyer

Volunteering & Chaperoning
Persons wishing to volunteer for Grand Ledge Public Schools are required to complete the Volunteer Registration Form and be approved prior to serving as a volunteer. All volunteers MUST check in at the office to receive a BADGE prior to proceeding to any other area on school property. Please visit District Volunteer Application to complete the process.
Please note: the background check takes a few days to process, so submit your application in advance based on your volunteer plans.
If your student will be moving to a different school next year, be sure to select both their current school and the school they’ll be attending.
For example: If your child is currently in 4th grade at Delta Center and will attend Hayes next year, select Delta Center and Hayes on the application. This ensures you’ll be cleared to volunteer at both locations when needed. Applications are valid for one calendar year.

GLPS will offer free meals to students at least through September 30, 2025, as part of the Michigan School Meals program, which was funded through the last state budget. GLPS will have a better idea about the future of the Michigan School Meals program and whether free meals will be provided to students once the state government agrees on a new budget (for the state fiscal year 2026). GLPS will communicate more about school meals as we learn more.
In the meantime, you can DO YOUR PART, CHECK THE CHART – your family might qualify for education and meal benefits. The Education & Meals Benefit Application helps our schools get state and federal funding for education programs. This application must be completed annually in order to qualify for the education and meal benefits that help both your family and the school district.
