Humanitarian Symposium

We are excited to announce the second annual Humanitarian Symposium here at Grand Ledge Public Schools. After last year's great success, we are hoping to see you all there for these students!

Please join us on June 2nd at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium as Jocelyn Armstrong, Shelby Mercer, Sofia Rivera, Morgan O'Meara, Jamemah Dos-Reis, and Zack Ellsworth present a type of mini TED-Talk about human worth. These students wrote a philosophical/argumentative paper in their Advanced Placement English Language & Composition course, answering the following questions:

  1.  What is a human worth, and how is someone's worth determined?
  2.  How can you uplift the worth of others, if at all?

Once they submitted their essays anonymously, a group of panelists narrowed down the papers to the final seven presenting at the Humanitarian Symposium.

Additionally, there will be an art installation so you can see artwork made by GLHS students, as made possible with collaboration with Sarah Coulon and the rest of the art department.

Several students will have some performances to entertain you after the presentations as well.

We will be awarding two presenters with a scholarship and one artist with a scholarship.

Please join us on June 2nd at 7:00pm at the GLHS auditorium.
