Highlights and Happenings from Ms. Smith
It was wonderful to see so many families in the building this week for Parent Teacher Conferences. These evenings are always such a great reminder of the strong sense of community we have at our school. Classrooms were filled with meaningful conversations about student growth, celebrations of hard work, and shared goals for the months ahead. I truly appreciate the time families took to come in, connect with teachers, and partner with us in supporting their children. When schools and families work together, our students benefit in powerful ways, and this week was a great example of that partnership in action.
Grounds
Many of you have reached out to share your concerns about the potholes in our parking lot and offer your support. We are aware of the issue and understand the frustration and safety concerns it may cause. We have submitted a request to our Operations team and asked for support in addressing the problem as soon as possible. The good news is that the entire parking lot is scheduled to be redone this summer. In the meantime, we are working to have the potholes patched to help improve conditions until the full project is completed. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work toward a long-term solution.
March is Reading Month
March is Reading Month, and we are excited to celebrate the joy and importance of reading all month long! This is a special time dedicated to building a love of books, strengthening literacy skills, and helping students see themselves as confident, capable readers. We have many fun activities planned, including a schoolwide Book Bracket, themed spirit days, and special Mystery Readers who will be visiting classrooms. Here is a link to all things March Book Madness.
Families can support Reading Month at home by setting aside time each day for reading, asking your child about what they’re reading at school, visiting the local library, or even reading together as a family. When students see that reading is valued both at school and at home, their confidence and motivation soar. We can’t wait to celebrate a month full of stories and learning together! Check out March is Reading Month at the local library HERE.

Thank You! - PTIA and Wacousta Community United Methodist Church
We would like to extend a big Wacousta thank you to our PTIA and the Wacousta Community United Methodist Church for the wonderful meals they provided for our teachers during Parent Teacher Conference week. The food was absolutely delicious, and the generosity was so appreciated. During such a busy week, it meant so much for our staff to not have to worry about preparing meals. We are so grateful to be part of such a caring community!
Grand Ledge Education Foundation
The Grand Ledge Education Foundation is competing in Consumers Credit Union’s "March Goodness Cool School Bracket" for a chance to win up to $5,200 to support Unified Champions. Unified Champions is a program that promotes inclusion by bringing students with and without disabilities together through sports and leadership opportunities. Community voting will help determine the winner. Families are encouraged to follow Grand Ledge Education Foundation on Facebook to find voting links, updates, and reminders throughout the competition. Let’s rally together and support this incredible program in our schools! Voting goes live on Monday, March 9, at noon!
Morning Arrival
To help ensure a smooth and successful start each morning, we are asking for your support with arrival procedures. Students should be inside the building by 8:55 a.m. If you arrive after 8:55, please park in the front lot by the office entrance and walk your student inside to sign them in so we can ensure attendance is marked accurately.
With the exception of days when bus routes are canceled, and we extend our arrival time, our carpool line runs smoothly, and we are able to have all students inside by 8:55. Thank you for helping us keep our mornings safe, efficient, and focused on learning.
