GLPS letterhead

GLPS Families,

As we head into the homecoming festivities this evening, I have a couple acknowledgements I need to make this week:

  1. October is national principals month. At GLPS, we have an amazing group of educational leaders in our schools, and they do so much to help support staff, students, and families. When you get the chance this month, please take a moment to thank your child’s principal for making GLPS a great place to learn and grow.

  2. October 3rd was custodial appreciation day. Our custodians at GLPS go above and beyond to keep our buildings clean so that students can be proud of their learning environments.  We appreciate Mr. Warren, Mr. Root and all of our custodial staff for their efforts day in and day out!

  3. October 6th was coaches appreciation day. We know that our GLPS athletic programs are outstanding, and that Mr. Baker and his team of coaches provide wonderful learning experiences for our student athletes. As a former Comet athlete myself, I know the impact that a good coach can have on a student’s life. A special thank you goes out to all of our coaches this week as well!

As I mentioned last week, tonight is the culmination of our homecoming celebrations with the parade and the football game.  It is a wonderful time of year to celebrate all of the things that make us #proudtobeacomet. We have a lot of successes to celebrate at GLPS, but we also know that we have work to do to continue to learn, grow, and improve each day so we can ensure that we are living up to our mission of Growing Learners and Preparing Students.

Thank you for your continued support; have a wonderful homecoming and great weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bill Barnes
