We are seeing an extremely high number of tardy students each day. In this 4-day week alone, 129 students arrived late, with only 11 tardies excused by a doctor's appointment. That means 91% of our tardies could have been avoided.
Each of the 118 avoidable tardies creates an interruption—opening doors, restating directions, helping students get settled after the school day begins, and peers being distracted—all of them negatively impact and take away from a fully functioning classroom.
Students must be in their seats and ready to learn by 8:55 AM. Please plan arrival so they have time to reach their classrooms before the bell. If you arrive after 8:55, you must walk your child into the office to sign them in. For safety, students may not enter the building alone after the start time.
Thank you for helping us ensure a safe, smooth, and successful start to every school day for all learners!
**Introducing Our STAR Depot!**
We are excited to share an update to our PBIS initiative designed to reinforce and celebrate positive behavior at Delta Center. We’ve elevated our STAR card system to make recognition more meaningful for both students and families.
When students demonstrate STAR behaviors—Safe, Trustworthy, Attentive, and Respectful—they will now receive two STAR cards:
One STAR card will be deposited into their grade level’s STAR Depot collection box. Each week, we will draw two students from each grade level to receive a special prize as part of our celebration of positive choices. The collection of these will also contribute to school-wide celebrations and goals.
The second STAR card will be sent home to share with you!
When your child brings home a STAR card, please take a moment to celebrate their hard work and positive choices. Your recognition at home helps reinforce the importance of showing STAR behaviors every day at school.
Thank you for partnering with us in supporting a positive, encouraging school environment for all our students!
As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
