Dear Beagle Middle School Families,
After closing out our actual first full week of school, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate what an OUTSTANDING job our students are doing on a regular basis. Our student body continues to demonstrate Comet PRIDE in a variety of ways, and we are very proud of them. We also wanted to thank our family members as well because we could not be successful without the OUTSTANDING support of our family members.
As we head into the homecoming festivities later on today after school, we wanted to send along a few updates:
Homecoming Reminders for Students: Over the years since we moved from Hayes to a joint campus with the high school, we have found it to be beneficial to give our student body a pre-correct regarding appropriate behaviors while attending after-school events, especially homecoming festivities. The message that we sent to the student body this week focused on being a representative of our middle school, our district, and their family in an effort to promote appropriate behaviors during after-school events. We used lunch time announcements to convey this message to our student body on Thursday and will echo again today, encouraging students to continue to show strong Comet PRIDE at all times, including after-school events. We appreciate our family members echoing these expectations at home as well. We also look forward to seeing our students at the game as we too will be in attendance.
Family Survey–How Are We Doing?--In last week’s newsletter, we sent out a survey to our families to get feedback on the beginning of the school year and the first few weeks of school. We thank those families who provided us with their feedback, and we will use this feedback to continue to grow. The survey is brief (less than 2 minutes of time) and we would love your feedback if you are interested in participating. Thank you in advance. https://forms.gle/YkPycy8bkDk2Z9t37
NWEA Testing: On Wednesday this week, our students engaged in Math NWEA testing. Students that were absent or still need to finish taking the Math NWEA will continue to do so, if necessary, early next week before we engage in Reading NWEA on September 17th. When NWEA scores are available for family members to review via Parent Portal, we will communicate that information out accordingly. Typically, it takes at least one week after the last test for scores to be viewable. Later this month, our Math and ELA teachers will engage in data analysis around this data to help guide instruction this trimester.
Hayes/Beagle PTO Sponsored Fundraiser: We thank our families that have participated in the Hayes/Beagle PTO sponsored fundraiser this year. Contributions to this fundraiser help to provide our students and staff members with a variety of opportunities. Families that are still interested in participating may do so up until September 22nd. This is the only fundraiser the PTO does for the year, the PTO greatly appreciates your support.
Hayes/Beagle PTO Meeting: Our first PTO meeting will be held here at Beagle Middle in our Media Center on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30pm. We encourage family members to attend these meetings. We have a strong joint PTO thanks to the many volunteers that serve, and our PTO does a great deal for both school and our community. Please join us if you are able to do so. Please also know that attendance at one meeting does not necessitate or require future attendance; in short, family participation is consistently a “no strings attached” approach.
