Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

Memorial Bench Dedication in Memory of Michael Sammon: On Thursday, October 22, at 7 p.m., members of the Beagle and GLPS community are invited to join us for a brief dedication of a memorial bench honoring Michael Sammon, a Beagle Middle School student who passed away last October. The bench was generously donated by residents of the Shadow Glen neighborhood as a lasting way to remember Michael and his connection to our school community. Michael’s family and members of the community will join us as we gather to dedicate the bench and remember him near the one-year anniversary of his passing. All who would like to attend are welcome.

Upcoming Middle School Athletic Tryouts:

If you have any questions or concerns regarding middle school interscholastic sports, please reach out directly to Mr. Korey Knapp, MS AD, at koreyr@glcomets.net.  Please click on the following link for more information about sports physicals and how to submit: BMS Webpage, Athletic Section.

Thank you to the Kahler Foundation for sponsoring a special assembly for all students featuring youth motivational speaker: Corey “Basketball” Jones. Through basketball tricks, engaging competitions, and inspiring stories, Corey encouraged our students to recognize how small, everyday choices involving effort, kindness, respect, and attitude can make a big impact on themselves and those around them.

Washington, D.C. Fundraiser Information:  The Wreath Fundraiser starts today!  Forms and money are due on Monday, October 26th,  the students know to turn them in to their history teacher.  Pick up date is Wednesday, November 19th from 3:30-5:30pm in front of Beagle Middle School, please mark your calendar with these important dates.  All live wreaths must be picked up on the 18th; we do not have outside, overnight storage.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Beagle will be hosting Parent/Teacher conferences the week of November 9th as follows:

  • Monday, November 9th, in-person, 4-7pm, in teacher’s classrooms.  Conferences will be five-minutes in duration with a three-minute transition period in between.

  • Wednesday, November 11th, virtual, 4-7pm

  • Friday, November 13th, virtual 11:30-2:30pm

Mrs. Lindsay Pelette, secretary, will be sending parent/teacher conference sign-up information to family members the week of October 26th.

Teacher to Family Member Communications:  Just a friendly reminder for our family members to continue to use Parent Portal for communications from our teachers, which can be found at the top of each teacher’s gradebook.  These communications are titled “Family Communication Archive."  Our staff post important information regarding Essential Learnings, upcoming events, and larger assignments within this platform in lieu of inundating our families with several emails each week.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s performance in the classroom or have any wonderings, please feel free to reach out directly to their teacher(s).

Hayes/Beagle PTO: Hayes/Beagle PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting will be held at Beagle Middle School in the Media Center on Tuesday, October 20th, at 6:30 p.m. If you’ve ever wondered how to get more involved at your student’s school—or how to stay up-to-date on what’s happening at Hayes and Beagle—the PTO is a great place to start. There is no cost to join, and attending a meeting is an easy way to hear updates, share ideas, and learn how fundraising supports programs and opportunities for students and staff. We’re also looking for volunteers, whether you can help once or several times during the year; we would love to have you involved. Come check it out and see how you can be part of supporting our school community.  Here is a graphic that demonstrates that outstanding work of our Hayes/Beagle PTO: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17kifMBPZHOY2qEm60GP5IAF3uAMzGvha/view?usp=sharing
