Dear Beagle Middle School Families,
Here are some updates we wanted to share with you at this time:
Thank you, PTO: We wanted to take this opportunity to give another huge shout-out to our outstanding PTO for supporting our students and teachers again this year. Our PTO works very hard both here at Beagle and Hayes to provide unique opportunities and experiences for our students while also supporting our school staff in meaningful ways. Their support is invaluable and greatly appreciated! While we will not have another PTO meeting this school year, we encourage our family members to consider attending our PTO meetings when they begin next year–whether it’s attending one meeting or all meetings, stakeholder feedback and support is vital and necessary. Again, thank you PTO and all family volunteers for their continued support!
Thank your, from the PBIS Committee: The Beagle PBIS committee wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Beagle families who donated raffle prizes to our PBIS store this year. We also want to thank our community partners who donated gift cards: Zap Zone XL, Flour Child Bakery & Cafe, and Toad's. We appreciate your support of the Beagle PBIS Committee and our PRIDE Store!
Washington DC Trip News: Beagle eighth graders returned last Saturday, May 17th from the Second Annual US History tour of the east coast. The eighth grade trip was led by teachers Tish Janes, Julia Rollis and Bryan Wetherwax. With the help of additional staff, and parent chaperones, 183 eighth graders toured Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Gettysburg. Over the six days, they visited many national memorials and monuments, visited museums, toured the Capitol Building, Independence Hall, Library of Congress, Constitution Hall and the National Cathedral, had picture stops at the White House and the US Supreme Court, and toured Arlington Cemetery and saw the Changing Of The Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They even managed to enjoy some “downtime” at the Medieval Times dinner theater, Dave and Busters, on a double-decker bus tour of Philly, and at Hershey Park! Students represented Grand Ledge Public Schools with excellent behavior demonstrating Comet PRIDE throughout the trip. The teacher leaders would like to thank all of the chaperones, Grand Ledge Public Schools administration, parents and community members for supporting this amazing learning experience!

As shared last week, schedules are not viewable in PowerSchool until August 19th due to unforeseen circumstances with staffing and logistics that can and will pop up over summer vacation.
Rising 7th Grade Schedule Pick-up/Picture Day: For families that have current 6th graders at Hayes, schedule pick-up/school pictures will be on Tuesday, August 19th from 4-7pm in the Beagle Cafeteria. We will communicate directly with all 6th grade families at the end of next week as well.
Tennis, Rising 9th Grade Boys: Any 8th Grade boys interested in Tennis next year, there will be a parent/player meeting on Thursday, 5/29 at 6pm in the Administrative Conference Room at Sawdon. Flyers are in the office.
Leaders in Training–Camp Invention: Calling all students entering 7th - 10th Grade! The Leaders-in-Training (LIT) position is a summer opportunity for students entering grades seven through nine. LITs build leadership skills in a dynamic, invention-based setting while mentoring children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Through the program, LITs gain and practice leadership and teamwork skills, act as role models for younger participants, and learn to set and meet personal and team goals. LITs work with a Camp Invention® Instructor to become a subject-matter expert in their module(s). LITs are also paired with a Leadership Intern mentor who helps the LIT develop leadership skills, which are used to empower Camp Invention participants as they become critical thinkers and creative problem solvers. While at Camp Invention, LITs set goals, reflect on their experiences, adapt leadership techniques, give and receive positive, constructive feedback, and evaluate their personal performance. LITs also help set a tone of excitement and team spirit and facilitate activities as needed. They engage Camp Invention participants in the overall experience, support them in problem solving, and assist in providing a safe environment. Not only is Camp Invention an opportunity for LITs to make a lifelong impression on younger children, it can also guide LITs in making future career decisions!
