Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates we wanted to share at this time:

Comet PRIDE Refresher in CNC’s: Over the past few weeks, we have noticed an increase in inappropriate, insensitive language and graffiti (bathrooms) within the student body that will not be tolerated.  As a leadership team, including members from central office, we have begun to visit each CNC class to share a united message regarding how inappropriate this is, reminding our student body how to treat each other with respect, how to report incidents, and how to access supports in the building when incidents occur around this type of unacceptable behavior.  We are hopeful that through this united message, our student body will step up to the challenge of treating others with kindness and respect at all times, in all places.  We appreciate your continued support in echoing this message at home.

Art and STEAM Showcase Next Week, Thursday: This is just a friendly reminder that we are hosting our Art and STEAM Showcase next week on Thursday, May 8th, from 6-8 p.m. here at Beagle Middle. We welcome all community members to attend this outstanding event hosted by Mrs. Fredericks, an Art teacher, and Mr. Jones, a Science/STEM teacher. We thank the family volunteers and teachers in advance for volunteering their time for this outstanding annual event.

Rising 9th Grade Boys’ Soccer Meeting, May 7th: For current 8th-grade boys rising into 9th grade next year interested in soccer, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, May 7th at 3 pm in the Grand Ledge High School cafeteria.  9th Grade Boys' Soccer 25-26.JPEG

Testing Updates: Our students continue to show great stamina with standardized testing!  The good news is that at this point, all standardized testing has been completed with the exception of 7th grade MSTEP Math, which will take place next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday within Math classes.  Current 7th graders enrolled in an 8th-grade level Math class (Math 8 or Algebra) will take the 7th grade MSTEP Math assessment in the media center during the hour they have their Math class; this will be proctored by our counselor, Mrs. Wright.  Please note that we will continue to engage in make-up testing for NWEA and MSTEP all next week and into the following week, as we are required to test all students by the State.

Summer and Early Fall Athletic Updates: We wanted to share with our families that we are working with Mr. Steve Baker, Athletic Director, to create a one-stop-shop document for interscholastic athletic events (camps, tryouts, opportunities, etc) that occur over the summer months, typically late July and into August.  Our goal is to create a document that we can share with families later in May/early June regarding upcoming Beagle and freshmen level high school sports, etc.  We will share this document with Hayes, so that Mr. Leopold and Mr. Millbrook can share it out with their families as well prior to summer to help support rising 7th grade families interested in school-based sports.  The document will be posted on our website as well for our families to reference during the summer months.  More to come on this document later in May.

PTO Meeting: The Hayes/Beagle PTO is making things happen for our students, and we’d love for you to be part of it! There’s no cost to join—just an opportunity to connect, stay informed, and support the programs and events that make our schools great.

Want a say in how fundraising dollars support students? Looking for a fun way to give back? We need volunteers for dances, field trips, teacher appreciation, and more—whether you have an hour or a whole afternoon, every bit helps! Join us and see how you can make a difference
Our next Hayes/Beagle PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30 pm here in the Beagle Media center. Families may also attend this meeting virtually as there is currently a hybrid offering.
