Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

Thank You, Families and PTO: Thank you family members for attending parent/teacher conferences over the past two weeks!  Your support is greatly appreciated!  We also wanted to thank our PTO for the snacks, treats, and Beagle staff dinner–much appreciated!

Spring Testing Season: Please note that all spring testing dates are listed in the last section of the newsletter.  April is going to be a busy month!  Please also note that State assessments are required for all students per the State. If possible, we appreciate families avoiding making appointments during the school day on testing dates as this help us to be in compliance with testing all students in a timely manner.

PSAT Digital Readiness-8th graders will engage in digital readiness for the upcoming PSAT during Social Studies classes on Tuesday, March 11th.  Students will be provided an access ticket for Bluebook, which is where they will take the PSAT on April 9th.  This ticket will allow them to engage in the practice PSAT on their own time up until the actual PSAT on April 9th.

Rising 8th Grade Elective Roadshow Wednesday Next Week: The Elective Roadshow here at BMS for rising 8th graders will be on Wednesday, March 12th during Science classes.  Students will come to the media center with their current 7th grade Science teachers for information regarding elective course requests for next year.  Students will be provided a two-sided worksheet that includes elective course description and a worksheet/scaffold to fill out with parents before their Science teachers help them enter their course requests into PowerSchool before spring break.  For those families with 6th grade students at Hayes, we will engage in the same process with the same expectations next week on Monday.

Upcoming LCC Trip for 8th Graders: On Friday, March 14 our 8th graders will be visiting Lansing Community College West Campus to participate in their RESA program offerings. Students signed-up for their areas of interest in their Social Studies classes a couple of weeks ago. Students will leave at 9am and return around 11:30am and every 8th grader will take 2nd lunch. If your child arrives past 9am they will not be able to attend the trip.

Tennis for Middle School Girls And Boys: GLPS Community Recreations is doing a doubles tennis league for 6th-8th grade girls and boys – 2025_ms_tennis_flyer.pdf  – beginners welcome, no experience required!  Practices Mondays & Wednesdays; matches on Saturdays.
