Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

Parent/Teacher Conferences Reminder: Earlier this week, Mrs. Pelette sent an email out to our families regarding parent/teacher conference sign up. Please look for this email to register for parent/teacher conferences, which are being held the week of March 2nd.

Unified Champions Basketball Game: On Wednesday evening this week, Mrs. Welton, special education teacher and Unified Champions coordinator, and Mr. Arnett, physical education teacher and Unified Champion coach, along with our Unified Athletes competed in a basketball game at Haslett. We had an outstanding turnout with family and community member support, and our athletes had an amazing time!  We thank our family and community members for coming out to support our athletes, and we thank both Mrs. Welton and Mr. Arnett for their continued efforts in supporting this outstanding program.  We have another Unified Champions tournament coming up at Grand Ledge High School in mid-March, please stay tuned for more specific information.

Upcoming Lockdown Drill During Passing Time, Monday: On Monday next week, we are engaging in our State required lockdown drill during unstructured time, which will take place during a passing time.  We are not allowed to reveal the time of the drill to students or teachers.  Teachers will, however, review with their students in CNC today the procedure for lockdowns during unstructured times. The message is simple: get to the closest classroom, stay in that room, and take direction from that specific teacher/adult.  We have a text message reminder for our families on autopilot that will be going on Monday morning about this drill as well.  Local law enforcement and first responders will be on school property to support this drill.

Chromebook Exchange: Our Chromebook exchange went extremely well yesterday.  Students that were absent yesterday will be able to exchange their chromebooks today.  There will also be opportunities to exchange into early next week.  If students discover a missing charger or even their old chromebook at home, those can be turned into the office into next week to avoid the charge for missing district-issued technology.

Board of Education Presentation, Monday: Our annual Board of Education presentation will take place on Monday during the Board meeting at Sawdon.  We will be providing our Board and community members with updates around our school improvement goals, mid-year data points, how we have been utilizing district-wide progressional development days in relation to our goals, celebrating several student accomplishments, and spotlighting a variety of programs.  We are excited to have some of our students and staff members to be part of the presentation on Monday evening.

Hayes/Beagle PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting will be held at Beagle Middle School in the Media Center on Tuesday, March 10th, at 6:30 p.m. We welcome all families to attend. There is no cost to participate, and coming to a meeting is a simple way to stay connected and informed.
The Hayes/Beagle PTO supports meaningful events, activities, and opportunities for our students and staff, and this work is possible because of the many families who volunteer their time. Whether you are interested in helping with upcoming projects or just want to listen and learn, we would be glad to have you join Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994"
