Dear Beagle Middle School Families,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

Solar Eclipse Viewing Opportunity for Students:  Here is a message from Mr. Jones, Science Department Head and 7th grade Science teacher to our students and parents:  have you heard that there is a solar eclipse happening on Monday, April 8th?  Want to hang out at Beagle and watch the science happen?  Then come join the Eclipse Watch Party at Beagle Middle School from 2:32 to 4:25.  Students can join Mr. Jones to observe the eclipse and learn about what is happening with the Earth, Moon, and Sun. Students are welcome to stay for all or just part of the time.  Students need to have transportation home arranged for when they leave the Watch Party.  If the weather is cloudy, this event will be canceled.  Regardless of attendance at this after-school opportunity, ALL students will be provided solar eclipse glasses on Monday during CNC on behalf of the district.

Wednesday, April 10th–No School 7th Graders; PSAT for 8th Grade: As we have been discussing, our 8th grade students will take the PSAT on Wednesday, April 10th, and our 7th graders will stay home that day.  8th graders must bring their school-issued Chromebook fully charged as the PSAT will be taken digitally this year. School begins for 8th graders at 7:52, and 8th-grade students need to be in their testing sessions by 8 am.  Testing rooms were posted this week at school.  Snacks will be provided to students during the designated break, and we thank our PTO for purchasing these snacks for our testing students.  Most 8th-grade students will complete testing around 11 am, and they will head to the gymnasium to wait for other students testing in accommodated rooms to complete testing.  Around 11:30 am, 8th-grade students will be provided a school lunch.  8th grade students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm; buses will be running on the 10th as well.

Trimester Two Honor Roll: Congratulations to our students who made honor roll during the second trimester!  Please click here to view our second-trimester honor roll students: https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/beagle-middle-school/honorroll/2nd-trimester/

Yearbooks: The window to order the yearbook online is from April 1 - April 26, and they are $15 each; please note that yearbooks were not part of the picture purchase package back in the fall.  You must include your student's CNC teacher to complete the order form. https://shop.yearbookmarket.com/beaglemiddleschool

Color Guard: Color Guard is an outstanding opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to engage in regardless of their participation in other extracurricular activities, electives, or dance ability.  Color guard begins in July and runs into November, supporting football games, pep assemblies, parades, and other competitions.  Color guard promotes physical activity, teamwork, and a hard work ethic.  If your student is interested in being part of the Grand Ledge Color Guard Team, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, April 10th from 5-7:30 pm at the Beagle Middle Auxiliary Gym.  There is no need to sign up for this meeting; students can simply show up.  For questions, please contact Ms. Jansky janskyc@glcomets.net.

GLHS Fall Musical Auditions: Please see the attached document with information about the Musical Theater Audition Workshops: MEAN GIRLS AUDITION PREP.pdf . These workshops are designed to help incoming freshmen to get comfortable and familiar with audition materials prior to auditions. Attending these workshops does not mean a student has to audition for the musical. Likewise, a student can still audition even if they are unable to attend the workshops. Students can attend as many workshop dates as they are able.  Any student attending the workshop should plan to meet in the Beagle Choir Room(701) after school on workshop dates. Students will be accompanied by an adult to walk over to GLHS. Students need to be picked up from the auditorium entrance of GLHS at the end of all workshops. Here are the workshop dates: 8th Grade GLHS Musical Audition Important Dates.pdf

Destination Imagination Team: Congratulations to Grand Ledge’s Destination Imagination team named “Yes, And…”  – they won first-place finish at the state tournament before spring break.  The “Yes, And…” team consists of Colleen Johnson from Hayes as well as Madilyn Cross, Emma Pinckney, Jadyn Ross, Paige Thelen, and Alex Hicks from Beagle.  This team worked for several months to solve a challenge in the improvisational category of competition, and at the tournament, the team also received an Instant Challenge – and they scored the highest in their division for this element.  Great job on the successful season!

Pom Tryouts: Pom tryouts for next year are happening soon!  Current 5th - 7th grade students can tryout for next year. The parent meeting is April 23.  Athletes will have an instructional clinic on April 23 & 24, concluding with a judged audition on April 25.  Register now at http://GLstuff.com/pom.
