From Our Principal

The Twelve Days of Giving is in Full Swing!

Seeing our students so excited to donate items to those in need is heartwarming. Your generosity and participation have made this initiative a huge success so far! The giving continues next week, and students can bring in donations through Monday, December 18th. A sincere THANK YOU for making a difference in our community! Let’s keep the momentum going as we approach the final week of giving!

Bundle Up for Michigan Winter Recess!

Students will continue to enjoy outside recess, even during our cold Michigan days. The only exceptions are when it is raining or the temperature or wind chill drops below zero. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather, including coats, hats, gloves, boots, and other warm clothing. Thank you for helping keep our students warm and ready for outdoor fun!

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your support!

Greetings and Salutations!

Here's hoping you have a great upcoming Thanksgiving break! As we return to school, we will be embracing the cold and the change of seasons by diving into our winter projects. We'll be covering new artists like Charley Harper, new techniques like paper collage, mixing up some color theory, and even adding some sparkle with glitter (I apologize in advance ).

Original Works Ordering is Still a Go!

Yep, you heard that right! If you forgot to order, want to order more, or your dear Aunt Sally finally got back to you on their request, then you're in luck  Our initial ordering window has ended but that doesn't mean we've closed shop! Orders can still be made for Original Works during our "Second Chance/Late" ordering window!

This window is open and runs through December 6th and 13th. For artwork that is already in our online Gallery, ordering is still the same using the website and your student's access code to locate and place orders. You can even share the links and codes with family and friends and they can place their own orders! The last day for online orders is December 13th. For artwork that was not scanned or for new artwork, please return the artwork and order form to me by December 6th to allow for shipping. Please note that delivery dates for late/additional orders are not guaranteed for specific arrival dates, but I will keep you updated as often as possible of their potential delivery in January.

Dates to Remember:

"SECOND CHANCE/LATE" DUE DATE (ONLINE): Friday, December 13th

"SECOND CHANCE/LATE" DUE DATE (MANUAL): Monday, December 9th

DELIVERY DATE (online/manual | initial deadline): Products already ordered are currently scheduled to arrive by Wednesday, December 11th. Stay tuned for more info regarding an evening pick up opportunity at the school!

DELIVERY DATE (“second chance” deadline): TBD. Current estimated arrival January.

BONUS: Do you have a DC alum who misses creating keepsake art? A future DC artist who wants to be a part of the fun? Let me know! I can provide paper, steps, and criteria to follow, and they too can participate as part of the manual ordering process  !

If you have any questions, feel free to email me: belldeann@glcomets.net. Don't forget to check out our Delta Center art room facebook page (Mrs. BellDean's DC Art Room) for important updates and amazing art!

As always, thank you for your continued support in our students and our school ! Have a great Thanksgiving!

School Closing Protocol

It is that time of year again... here is 2-page "School Closing Protocol" document.

This year, we will communicate about school closings using our SchoolMessenger system and by placing a District Alert on our website's homepage: GLcomets.net. For school closings, we create an automated phone call, a text message, and an email that is sent using SchoolMessenger. We also post a District Alert on our website (see example below). Finally, we will reach out to local TV stations, but we encourage you to rely on the school district's communications – GLPS is the best source for closing information and details.

Please be sure your phone number and email address are accurately recorded in SchoolMessenger so you get communications about school closings. You can use the "SchoolMessenger Settings Guide" and follow the instructions to view the contact information in our system. If you want to get text messages from the schools, be sure to opt in by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587. If changes are needed to the contact information, legal parents and guardians can communicate with the main office of the school or use this Contact Information Update form.

If you have grandparents, daycare providers, etc., who need to be kept in the loop, please let them know they can sign up for school district communications about school closings, and more, by following the instructions at GLcomets.net/Connect.

An example of what the District Alert looks like on our website is below.

GLPS International Night is January 24, 2025, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Sign up to participate: share a cultural display or exhibit, to walk in the fasion show, or to do a cultural performance

Volunteers are needed to make International Night go well, so please sign up to volunteer.
