Spring is a Fun, and Busy, Time of Year at GLPS!

GLPS Families,
We had another outstanding week here at Grand Ledge Public Schools. Spring is a fun, and busy, time of year, as sports and activities are in full swing, students are beginning to take spring assessments, and we continue to learn and grow in our classrooms.
For this week’s updates, I have a couple of important items to note:
- April is Autism Acceptance Month, which gives us the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate students in our schools who are on the autism spectrum. Here at GLPS, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn, and that all students have the opportunity to feel valued and included in our schools. One of our many groups who champions this work is our LINKS program, which focuses every day on providing an authentic school experience for all students. In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, our high school LINKS have designed a t-shirt that staff, students, families, and community members can purchase to show support for their program and its important work. If you would like to purchase a shirt, please click here for instructions. April 28th has been designated as the day to wear these shirts in school and in the community to show our commitment to celebrating our students with diverse needs here at GLPS.
- As we do each spring, Grand Ledge Public Schools is posting open teaching and support positions to prepare for next year. Research shows that one of the best tools for recruiting new team members is through recommendations from people who work in or interact with the district. You certainly fall into that second category, so I encourage you to share our Careers Page with people who are interested in working in an amazing school district with beautiful facilities and wonderful families.
- Don’t forget, one of the goals in our strategic plan is to create a symbol, or logo, that we can use throughout the district to highlight our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming place for all of our students, staff, families, and community members. To those ends, we have put together a design contest for students. Information about the contest can be found here, or on flyers that can be found in our school buildings. Please encourage your student to submit an entry; it may be the one that is chosen to be displayed throughout the district!
That is it for this week. As always, we appreciate you, your support, and the opportunity to work with your students every day. Have a wonderful weekend! #proudtobeacomet!
