Let's Get Some Answers!

GLPS letterhead

GLPS Families,

With three snow days in the last two weeks, we thought it would be a good time to update our district FAQ page with information about our snow day process, including how we make the decision to close, how we make decisions about Adventure Club, Little Comets, and athletic events, and how many snow days we get before we have to make them up.  I have received questions about these items throughout the last week, so we wanted to share this information through our FAQ process.

Please click here to see the answers to the following questions:

  • How are snow days decided?
  • When we have a snow day, how do we decide whether to keep Adventure Club and Little Comets open?
  • How do we decide whether to hold evening activities?
  • How many snow days are we allowed by the state?

For those keeping track, we have now used five of our six allotted days: Friday, November 18, 2022; Wednesday, January 25, 2023; Friday, February 17, 2023; Wednesday, February 22, 2023; and Thursday, February 23, 2023. March is around the corner, so hopefully spring is on its way, but it looks like freezing rain is in the forecast again for early next week. That means the GLPS snow day team will be keeping an eye on things, and making the best decision possible if and when more bad weather arrives.

I appreciate your questions and feedback, and I encourage you to visit our FAQ page for answers to these snow day questions, and many others about GLPS.

Thank you for all you do for our district and community.  As always, I am #proudtobeacomet!
