Grand Ledge Public School Families,

As the 2022-2023 school year approaches, we want to remind you about the benefit and convenience of school meals.  They continue to be some of the healthiest meal options for students, and our menus feature kid-approved foods.

Due to nationwide waivers for federally funded meal programs, school meals were free to all students through much of the COVID-19 pandemic.  But these waivers were not extended for the 2022-2023 school year, so Grand Ledge Public Schools will begin charging again for breakfast and lunch.

Free or reduced-priced meals are available to students who qualify for these benefits.  Our goal is to continue supporting all students and families by ensuring those who need free meals or reduced-price meals at school receive them.

We encourage ALL families, regardless of income, to complete and submit a short, confidential school meal application prior to the start of the school year to ensure that there are no gaps in meal benefits for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.  Families can submit this application online or in person at your child's school office.  Simply click here and use the "GUEST" button to begin to complete the short, confidential application.  It's an easy and confidential way to ensure your child stays well-nourished at school.

You may begin depositing money into student accounts at any time to prepare for the cost of school meals.  Meal Magic Family Portal gives families a single website for all their food service tasks.  They can make deposits, transfer funds, review account balances, see what their children are eating, set parental controls, apply for meal benefits, complete Household Information Reports, and more.  It's intuitive and mobile-friendly.

Check or cash deposits will still be accepted at school buildings.  Please place your check or cash in an envelope along with the name of your student and then address the envelope to "Food Service."   Checks should be made payable to "Grand Ledge Public Schools Food Service."  Teachers at elementary schools will collect envelopes each day, and students in grades 5-12 should give the envelope to a cashier at breakfast or lunch.

For the 2022-23 school year, breakfast and lunch costs are listed below.

        • Cold Breakfast   $1.75
