Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling

I regularly meet with students on a one on one basis. Typically, checking in with a student will last no more than 20minutes and can be as brief as 5minutes. The length of time I spend with a student depends on what they are working on and more improtantly how their mood is. During our time together we will often talk while doing an activity or with the older students just talk. Activities may include coloring, playing with dough, playing a game, completing worksheet activities and roleplaying.

They are many reasons why I may meet with a student individually. Some are listed below.

  • Anxiety
  • Divorce/Separation
  • Anger Management
  • Social Skills
  • Inappropriate Behavior
  • Grief/Loss
  • Friendships
  • Academics

When I meet with a student on a regular basis, ie once or more a week, I contact parents and ensure this is ok. I welcome calls from parents and I do my best to answer any questions or comments you may have. Meeting with students can be initiated through a referral from a teacher, a student request or parent request.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
