Dear Hayes Parents,

We hope that you and your family had an enjoyable holiday break.  As we get going into our second trimester here at Hayes, we wanted to send along some reminders and updates regarding various topics.

To begin, we would like to welcome Mrs. Fredericks to our Hayes family!  Mrs. Fredericks is our new Art teacher, and her first day working at Hayes was this Monday.  We are excited to have Mrs. Fredericks on board.

Also, if you have any candid photos of your student that you would like incorporated into the yearbook, then please send those photos directly to Mrs. Hernandez by emailing her at hernandezj@glcomets.net.  School pictures have been postponed until the end of February at this time.

Next, first trimester report cards are now viewable within ParentPortal.  To view your student’s report card, click on “Student Reports” (left side of navigation menu), and then click on the “Middle School Grades 7-8” link.  We apologize that those were not viewable earlier this week.

Next week, we will have material distribution on Thursday, January 14th from 4-6pm.  Unlike our fall material distribution, this one will be much smaller, and many teachers do not have materials to pass out to students.  Individual teachers will be communicating with both students and parents over the next few days if material pick up is necessary for their class, so please look for those communications.  Before moving forward, we kindly ask that you keep all school-issued materials in your possession from the fall; we will gather those materials later in the year.  We appreciate your support here.

A few more updates:  sports continue to be on standby at this time; we will keep you updated when we hear more information.  We also wanted to mention that the second trimester has been extended, and it will end on March 25th.  The third trimester will begin the day we return from Spring Recess on Monday, April 5th.  Please note that these trimester end and start dates only impact grades 7-12.

Finally, we continue to actively work on our limited in-person return plan for trimester two. We have worked with our elementary schools as well as the high school to ensure that families are cohorted together across the district.  We will continue to prepare for in-person return over the next few weeks, and please be sure to watch for Dr. Chapin’s updates on Wednesdays regarding our potential return date.

As always, thank you for your continued support, and please be sure to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Dave and Eric
