Dear Hayes Parents,
As we are wrapping up our second week of the second trimester, we wanted to pass along some updates and reminders.
First, this week we sent a video to all students via school email accounts. This video provides students with helpful tips, reminders, and strategies that will help build their executive functioning skills. Please have a conversation with your student to ensure they have watched the video, and it may be a good idea to watch the video with them to strategize steps for success this trimester.
Also, through the leadership of our school’s PBIS team, our teachers will be providing direct instruction on how students can develop executive functioning skills; these lessons will begin next week during Live Friday within Science classes. Thereafter, our English and Social Studies teachers will engage in these lessons with students on Live Fridays over the following two weeks respectively. Again, our goal is continue to help our students build their executive functioning skills to ensure continued success and growth this trimester.
In addition, we are also happy to announce that Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Taylor, our school counselors, will be presenting a 7-part series called “Discover Your Happy.” Students are encouraged to join our counselors on Tuesdays at noon. The Link can be found on your student’s Buzz home page in the announcements section. Here is a preview of topics to come:
Next, the free weekly curbside breakfast & lunch pickup day will be Tuesday, January 19 next week due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. It will still be at Hayes Middle School from 10:30-12:30 a.m. & 4:30-6:00 p.m. More info about the program is at GLcomets.net/FoodService
A quick note on sports: Boys’ Basketball players and families should be closely monitoring their emails on a daily basis. Your coaches will be communicating with you regarding upcoming practices and logistics. For now, there is no further information to share about other upcoming sports.
Finally, we just wanted to remind parents that there is no school on Monday, January 18th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Classes will resume, following the normal daily schedule for Live and Asynchronous days, on Tuesday, January 19th.
That is all that we have for now. We hope that you and your family have a relaxing weekend.
Please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.
