Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

As we close out our second week of the 21-22 school year, we wanted to express our continued thanks and appreciation to our parents.  Your support and understanding has made this a successful beginning of the school year for our students, and it is much appreciated!

Here are some updates we wanted to pass along:

School Pictures: Our school picture date has been moved to Tuesday, October 5th.  Students will be called down alphabetically.  School picture information will be provided to your student by Geskus on picture day.

Emergency Contact Forms:  Typically, we pass these out when schedules are distributed; however, that was not an option this year for a variety of reasons.  Students received their Emergency Contact Forms in Check and Connect Class this week with the expectation of taking them home for parent(s)/guardian(s) to review, sign, and update if necessary.  If an update needs to be made anywhere on the form, simply write in the updated information directly on the form.  Students are expected to return these forms to their Check and Connect teachers by Tuesday, September 21st.  Our office secretaries will use the forms to make necessary changes in PowerSchool.

Comet PRIDE Lessons: We are a school-wide Positive Behavior and Integrated Supports (PBIS) district, and at Beagle we are Positive and Respectful, we show Integrity and Determination, and we put forth Effort in all that we do.  Our teaching staff uses Comet PRIDE consistently to teach and reinforce expectations in the classroom; in addition, our teaching staff intentionally demonstrates Comet PRIDE expectations in a variety of environments: hallways, cafeteria, bus, restrooms, and classrooms early in the school year.  Over the past two weeks, our teachers have been teaching Comet PRIDE expectations in the aforementioned environments, so that students understand the expectations.  We reinforce Comet PRIDE with students in a variety of ways, including the use of blue Comet PRIDE tickets.  Our first blue ticket drawing will be on Friday, September 24th in Check and Connect class; students can turn in their positive behavior tickets for a variety of prizes.

Student Support Presentation: Our administrative and counseling teams presented to the entire 7th grade this past Wednesday; next week, the teams will present to our 8th graders.  This presentation is designed to inform students where they can go for support; addresses common middle school struggles students may face and how to deal with them; and spotlights important expectations such as our updated dress code, cell phone, attendance, and tardy policies.

Lockers: Our goal is to provide all students with a locker within the next two weeks.  Students will receive this information in their Check and Connect class.  We will keep you posted on this, and we thank you for your patience.

Parking Lot and Buses:  Thank you for your support here as well!  We are down to seven minutes for dismissal, and morning arrival has also improved in terms of efficiency.  Just a friendly reminder, that the roundabout is open for student crossing within the crosswalks.  For our bus riders, we have opened the doors on the Southwest corner of the building for entry as well, and we will work with our bus drivers to remind them that they can drop students off there as well as at the back of the building.  Both locations are staffed.  Again, thank you for your patience here.

Those are all of the updates that we have at this time.  We hope that you have a great weekend.  Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Dave and Eric
