Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

It’s hard to believe that the first trimester has come and gone!  While it was challenging at the beginning of the school year for our students to get back into the routine of full-time, traditional in-person instruction, we are happy to report that our students have made amazing progress with adjusting back to pre-pandemic school routines, especially with demsontrating Comet PRIDE.  On that note, today we held our end-of-trimester Comet PRIDE drawing, honoring those lucky students that were drawn to receive a prize during Check and Connect class.  We appreciate your continued support in reinforcing Comet PRIDE at home, and we also appreciate your consistent support of our cell phone policy: off and out of sight during instructional time, including passing time.

Conferences: Thank you for your attendance and support at Parent Teacher Conferences this past week.  If you are still interested in attending conferences, you can still sign up for next week on Tuesday from noon-3pm.  Please use this link for more information:

First Trimester Ends on Tuesday: The first trimester will end on November 23rd. Final grades for the first trimester will be posted in PowerSchool by Tuesday, November 30th after 5pm.  Please note that Check and Connect is not a graded class; therefore, the grade column for this class will be blank.

Elective Rotation, November 29th: November 29th begins our second trimester at Beagle; therefore, students enrolled in trimester-long electives will begin new elective classes, within the same hour, at this time.  Students can view their schedule for the entire year within PowerSchool by clicking on the top, right corner and selecting 2021-22.  At this time, schedule change requests cannot be honored.

School Closing Protocol:  Winter weather means school districts have to make decisions about closing or delaying school.  To learn more about how this decision is made, visit

Yoga for Tweens: Maggie Olds, Grand Ledge parent and owner of Yoga Connect in Lansing, has reached out to both Beagle and Hayes to offer three, upcoming Yoga sessions for students between the ages of 10-13 years old.  These three sessions will occur on Sundays as follows: 11/21, 12/5, and 12/19 from 1:00-1:45pm at Yoga Connect.  The sessions will be taught by three Yoga Connect instructors, one of which is a licensed social worker trained in working with teenagers.  Please click on the link in the next section, and then click on Community Resources for more information.

Students’ of the Week, Extra Curricular, and Community Resources:  Please click and then click on the appropriate link on our homepage.

These are all the updates that we have for now.  Please note that we will not be sending along a newsletter next week due to the shortened week with Tuesday being a half-day.  We hope that you and your family are able to enjoy a happy, healthy, and connected Thanksgiving; it's time to unplug and unwind together. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Dave and Eric
