Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

As the first trimester is winding down, we have several important announcements to pass along to our parents:

Fall Conferences: There is still time to register for all conferences.  Please click here for information regarding registering for conferences: Conferences will be held on November 16th and 17th from 4-7pm; there will be afternoon conferences on November 23rd from 12-3pm.

Comet Pride Drawing Next Week: Every other week during Check and Connect classes, students turn in their blue Comet PRIDE tickets they have received for demonstrating Comet PRIDE here at Beagle.  Check and Connect teachers draw three tickets and award smaller prizes to three lucky winners. At the end of each trimester, we engage in a larger celebration of students demonstrating Comet PRIDE, giving away larger prizes.  This year, we have decided to draw 25 names from each grade level, and we will make a video recording of the drawing results to be shown in Check and Connect class on Friday, November 19th.  Prizes will also be awarded in the main office during Check and Connect that same day. If your student has Comet PRIDE tickets, please be sure they turn them into their Check and Connect teacher by Tuesday, November 16th.

First Trimester Ending Soon: The first trimester will end on November 23rd, and teachers often ask students to submit missing assignments or assessments at least five days prior to the end of the trimester.  Please remind your student to get any missing or make up work submitted in short order as this ensures timely grading by our teaching staff.  Final grades for the first trimester will be posted in PowerSchool by Tuesday, November 30th.

Elective Rotation, November 29th: November 29th begins our second trimester at Beagle; therefore, students enrolled in trimester-long electives will begin new elective classes, within the same hour, at this time.  Students can view their schedule for the entire year within PowerSchool by clicking on the top, right corner and selecting 2021-22.

For Parents of Bus Riders: Please continue to help reinforce the expectation that all bus riders must shuttle from Beagle to the high school via bus.  Since the beginning of the year, we’ve experienced a significant volume of bus-riding students walking over to the high school in lieu of shuttling from Beagle to the high school as directed.  This has created significant safety concerns for our students when the buses arrive at the high school as students have been observed walking through the parking lot, interfering with bus traffic, and other concerning issues.  Our transportation department is closely monitoring South and Green Streets at this time, and bus discipline will be issued to students that are observed walking to the high school instead of shuttling.  Again, please continue to help us by reinforcing on the homefront that all bus riders must shuttle from Beagle to the high school; this ensures the safety, supervision, and wellbeing of our children.

Art Night--Mrs. Fredericks, our Art teacher, will be hosting a fall themed Art Party on Thursday, November 18th from 5-7pm.  Students interested in participating should email Mrs. Fredericks at  Students must be accompanied by an adult, and the suggested participation fee is $20 per pair.

Fall Book Fair:  The week of November 15th, students will visit the Scholastic Book Fair during their Language Arts class.  Students will have the opportunity to browse and purchase books and other products.  Students may purchase books using cash, check, or Scholastic eWallet.  If you wish to send a check, you can put a dollar amount in, and then we can give change back.  Checks should be made payable to Beagle Middle School.  Thank you for your support for our school and helping our library grow with the profits we receive from the fair.

Yoga for Tweens: Maggie Olds, Grand Ledge parent and owner of Yoga Connect in Lansing, has reached out to both Beagle and Hayes to offer three, upcoming Yoga sessions for students between the ages of 10-13 years old.  These three sessions will occur on Sundays as follows: 11/21, 12/5, and 12/19 from 1:00-1:45pm at Yoga Connect.  The sessions will be taught by three Yoga Connect instructors, one of which is a licensed social worker trained in working with teenagers.  Please click on the link in the next section, and then click on Community Resources for more information.

Students’ of the Week, Extra Curricular, and Community Resources:  Please click and then click on the appropriate link on our homepage.

These are all the updates that we have for now.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Dave and Eric
