Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share with you:

Middle School Track: The first day of track practice is Monday, April 4th.  Practices will be Monday-Friday from 5-6:30 pm.  Track is an all-participant sport, meaning that there are no tryouts. The track team is looking for parent volunteers as well.  Anyone interested in helping can contact the Mrs. Alyssa Arnouts, head coach, at cummingsa@glcomets.net. We also remind students via morning announcements.

Congratulations to Our Band Students: Our Band students did an amazing job at Band Festival last Friday, scoring all 1’s (top score).  We greatly appreciate all of their hard work and efforts this year, and we also appreciate the continued passion, support, and encouragement Mrs. Tavia Zerman, Band director, provides her students on a consistent basis.

Attention Parents of 8th Graders:  As we have been communicating, current 8th graders schedule requests for their 9th grade year are due in PowerSchool today.  Both high school staff and our Science team have provided students with a variety of resources, scaffolds, and supports to complete this process.  If you need assistance with this process or need more information, then please reach out to Mrs. Tonya Rice, High School Assistant Principal, for more information at ricet@glcomets.net.

Attention Parents of 7th Graders:  Science teachers have completed the process of supporting our rising 8th graders in submitting their elective requests for next year in PowerSchool.  We thank our parents for working with their students first via the google form to ensure that the electives requested for next year are appropriate.  As we have told students, these are elective requests–not guarantees, and we appreciate your support and understanding here as well.  Our goal is to have schedules complete by June; however, we will not release schedules to students until August just prior to orientation.  We will continue to communicate with families over the summer regarding schedule pick-up, orientation, etc.

PSAT, 8th Graders, Wednesday, April 13th: On Wednesday, April 13th, all 8th grade students will engage in the required state standardized test known as the PSAT.  Our 8th graders will test in the morning, arriving to school at normal time, while our 7th graders will stay home for the morning.  7th grader bus routes will run about 3.5 hours later in the day to bring our 7th grades in for a half-day beginning at 11:10am.  After testing, our 8th graders will also engage in half-day of instruction.  Lunch will be provided to both 7th and 8th grade students.  It is imperative that our 8th graders arrive on-time as testing begins promptly at 8am, and students will be expected to be in their testing room by 7:55am.  If students arrive late, they will not be allowed into their testing rooms.  We will continue to provide more detailed information as we get closer to this date.

Hayes/Beagle Joint PTO:  In an effort to continue to support Kindness Month, the PTO is asking parents and community members to please consider donating $5 via Venmo to your PTO to continue funding exciting activities such as an all-school book (Hayes), teacher appreciation activities (Beagle/Hayes), school dance (Beagle), and so much more.  Venmo username: @hayesandbeaglepto.  Please note that you do not need to enter a phone number as this step can be skipped.

The next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, April 6th at 6pm via Zoom. We welcome and encourage Beagle parents to attend our PTO meetings.  Here is the recurring Zoom link for future PTO meetings:http://https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994
