June 10, 2022
Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,
Here are some important updates and reminders:
June 15th End of Year Celebration (Big Fun Day): Our last day of school is June 15th, which is a half-day, and we plan on celebrating all of our students with a Big Fun Day filled with inflatable obstacle courses; tug of war; kick ball; and a gaggle of additional fun, outdoor and indoor activities thanks to Planet X Events. Kona Ice will also help us celebrate the last day of school. This has been a tradition at the middle level for the past decade (prior to COVID), and we intend on having even more activities for our students this year. On June 15th, students will report to their Check and Connect class at 7:55 where attendance will be taken, and then they will engage in our Big Fun Day around 8am. Staff will be supervising both the outdoor and indoor activities in conjunction with volunteers from Mt. Hope Church. At 10:42, students will report back to their Check and Connect class where attendance will be taken again before dismissal at 10:50am. Please note that students are not allowed to bring backpacks to school on June 15th. Teachers will review expectations for Big Fun Day in Check and Connect class on June 14th with their students.
Chromebook Return: Chromebook return began this week during Check and Connect. The final day to turn in a Chromebook is June 13th; however, our goal is to have them all turned in by June 13th for logistical purposes. Here are the fees for:
- Missing Charger: $35
- Missing Chromebook: $270
- Damaged Chromebook: $50-$270, depending on the extent of the damage
We will also send along a reminder next week just before we begin to collect Chromebooks. Within this upcoming email, we will differentiate damaged Chromebook fees.
Library Books: All library books are due back to Ms. Douglas on Monday, June 13th. Ms. Douglas will be reaching out to families regarding missing, overdue, or damaged books next week.
Yearbooks: Students that ordered yearbooks earlier in the year received them during lunch the past few days. Additional yearbooks can be purchased using the link provided: https://prepay.geskusphoto.com/?yb=37
Locker Clean Out: Locker clean out will be on Monday, June 13th in Check and Connect class. Please note that backpacks will not be allowed at school on our last day, June 15th.
For Current 7th Grade Parents: We sent an email yesterday regarding next year for our rising 8th grade parents. This email contains important information regarding schedule availability in August, schedule pick-up, school pictures, and open house for next year. We will send a brief reminder with this same information at the end of the month, and we will also communicate again the second week of August when we return to the office after time away with our families.
For 8th Grade Parents–High School Test Out in August: If you are interested in having your current 8th grader student test out of specific high school classes for next year, then please use this link for more information: https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/grand-ledge-high-school/counselingstudent-services/course-opportunites--glhs/#testingout
Also, please note that high school administration will be reaching out to our rising 9th grade families in August regarding important information for next year.
End of Year Medication Pick-Up: This is just a friendly reminder to pick up your child’s medication or medical supplies from the main office on Tuesday, June 14th from 7:15am-2:45pm or on Wednesday, June 15th from 7:15am-11am.
Students Leaving Grand Ledge: If your student will not be returning to GLPS for the 2022-23 school year, then please email Joan Pedraza at email@example.com, providing your student’s name and why they will not be returning.
Students’ of the Week, Extra Curricular, and Community Resources: To view our students of the week or to review additional community/extra curricular information on our webpage, then please click https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/beagle-middle-school/ and then click on the appropriate link on our homepage.
This will be our last formal newsletter for the year. At this time, we wanted to say THANK YOU for all of your support this year. It takes a village to raise a child, and we could not do it without the support of you. We hope that you and your family are able to spend time together this summer to get back to the things that matter the most.
Dave and Eric
