Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,
As we head into our last week of school before the holiday break, we wanted to pass along some suggestions as we often see an uptick in inappropriate behavior the week before a long break. At school, our teachers will hold fast to instruction for the duration of next week for consistency's sake as that is what’s in the best interest of our students. At home, it is best to maintain consistent routines leading up to the break, and it is also in the best interest of students to re-engage in those routines two or three days before returning from break. We thank you for your support on this front.
Here are some additional updates:
Lockdown Drill: As we discussed last week, we will have a lockdown drill on Wednesday, December 15th. During this drill, we will work with the Grand Ledge Police Department both during the drill and after the drill. Yesterday, Eric and I piloted a scenario-based presentation with two Check and Connect classes to gain both teacher and student feedback on the presentation. After a few revisions, this presentation will be shared with our teaching staff later today, and staff will present to students on Monday and Tuesday during Check and Connect class last week.
Outside Travel to Band/Choir Rooms: As of now, Clark Construction has reported that our Band and Choir students will not have to travel outside of the building to access the aforementioned classes when students return from the holiday break. While the pool area will remain under construction, our students will be able to safely travel through the cafeteria, entering the new wing of the building which connects the main building to the Band/Choir wing. When we return from break, we will work with students to ensure they know how to use this new travel corridor.
St. Jude’s Children Hospital Donations: Our Beagle Comet Council spearheaded a fundraiser this week, collecting donations to support St. Jude’s Children Hospital. The fundraiser has been facilitated through our Check and Connect classes in a competitive fashion. The Check and Connect class that raises the most funds will earn a pizza party next week. We are excited to report that we have raised over $1,400 for St. Jude’s. We thank our students and families for contributing to this cause; we also thank Mrs. Savage, Mrs. Earle, and Mrs. Fredericks for leading our Beagle Comet Council in this endeavor.
Holiday Choir Concert: The Beagle Choirs Holiday Concert will be on Monday, December 13th at 7 pm in the Grand Ledge High School Auditorium. We encourage our students and parents to attend this wonderful, festive event.
Girls’ Basketball Parent Meeting: 7th and 8th-grade girls interested in playing middle school basketball need to have their parents attend a meeting on Wednesday, December 15th at 7 pm here at Beagle in the cafeteria.
Students’ of the Week, Extra Curricular, and Community Resources: Please click here and then click on the appropriate link on our homepage.
These are all the updates that we have for now. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
