Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

Here are some updates that we wanted to share with you at this time:

STEAM Showcase at BMS: This Thursday, May 18th, from 6-7:30pm is Beagle Middle School's first STEAM Showcase.  This is a community event designed to showcase  projects from the STEM and Art students!  There is a TOP SECRET theme that will be revealed the night of the showcase.  The 2nd floor of our middle school will be completely transformed for one night only!  Shove It Pizza Truck will be here and we will be selling candy and soda as well!  Don't miss it!!! Mrs. Fred will even have a guessing game prior to the show for a chance to win a cool goodie basket!!  Here is a preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpSyMYWObKI
We do need parent volunteers to make this a success.  Parents, if you are able to volunteer, please sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080a4eafa729a1fb6-steam?fbclid=IwAR2_DYtMPBUbTQrRJbk9JIN5cZo2AsCTowxFd9Gm007r5PSEwCJnhKcs-cQ#/

Shout Out to our PTO: A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful PTO and parents that have supported our PTO for their continued support of our students and staff here at Beagle Middle.  Tuesday was the last PTO meeting for the year, and we look forward to working together with our PTO next year.  This week, our teachers greatly appreciated all of the treats in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week.  Again, thank you to our PTO members and all of our parents that continue to consistently support our students and staff.

Monday, May 15th–ELA NWEA:  On Monday, students are to report to CNC instead of first hour class.  Students will take the ELA portion of NWEA Monday morning before lunches, and they will attend all classes later in the day on a modified schedule.  Math NWEA testing will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd.  Students that miss or do not complete NWEA testing will be pulled from class to complete the assessment throughout both weeks.

Wednesday, May 17th–7th Grade Lugnuts, 8th Grade Activities at Beagle: 7th graders will be heading to the Lansing Lugnuts School Day on May 17th, and we intend to have an activity afternoon here at Beagle for our 8th graders on the 17th as well.  We will run a normal bell schedule on the 17th.  7th graders will attend 1st hour, part of 2nd hour, and then head to CNC before departing for Lugnuts’ Stadium; 8th graders will attend hours 1, 2, 3, and 4 (eat lunch), and then they will spend the rest of the afternoon in CNC engaging in fun activities and enjoying snacks.  This will be a great break for our students during the spring testing season.

MSTEP Testing:  MSTEP testing has been completed this week.  Our counselors will continue to work with students that still need to finish portions of their MSTEP test.  We are required by the State of Michigan to test all students.  Therefore, if your student has been absent recently, they will be pulled from certain classes over the next few days to complete testing before the window closes next week on Friday.

Grand Ledge Robotics Club Spring Open House:  The Grand Ledge Robotics Club Open House will be hosted on May 11th, 7pm, at the Sawdon Administration building.  Please click here for more information: 2023 Spring Open House Flyer.pdf

Monday, May 22nd Career Day at Beagle: Monday, May 22nd is a half-day for students, and it’s also our Career Presentation Day here at Beagle.  We thank the 30+ parents that have signed up to present to our students!  Those that have signed up will receive an email by the end of the day today from their host teacher.  If you have signed up to present, please be on the lookout for that email, and please be sure to share your presentation with your host teacher in advance.  This way, host teachers can use the school’s technology the morning of presentations to ensure no time is lost dealing with connectivity issues.  Classes will be about 25 minutes in duration on the 22nd as we will be following our half-day bell schedule.

Kona Ice: Kona Ice will be visiting Beagle several times over the remainder of the school year.  Students have a chance to purchase a sweet treat as part of their nutritious school lunch.  Prices range from $4 to $7.  All proceeds go to support Beagle PBIS programs and rewards.  Look for Kona Ice on the following Fridays: May 19th, June 2nd and June 16th.

Not Returning to GLPS:  If your student will not be returning to Grand Ledge Public Schools next year, please send an email to Joan Pedraza, head secretary, at pedrazaj@glcomets.net.
