Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,
Here are some updates that we wanted to pass along:
Track and Field: A message from Coach Alyssa Arnouts: Beagle Track & Field begins Monday, April 3rd. We will practice from 4:30-6:00pm Monday- Friday. We will meet in the Beagle Cafeteria until further notice. Athletes need to have their physical turned in and it must be dated on or after April 15, 2022. Choral Festival: Yesterday, our Choir attended the Choral Festival at Haslett High School, and all three ensembles received a division one rating, which is the highest possible rating! We thank our parents that helped to chaperone this event, and we also thank Mrs. Kristen Burton and Mr. Daniel Dade, Choir instructors, for all of their hard work and efforts in providing this opportunity to our students. Great job Choir students!
Grand Ledge Robotics Teams: We also wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate our four middle school robotics teams. Two weeks ago, our four middle school teams competed in at the State Championship, and all four teams earned spots in the upcoming finals! We congratulate our middle school students on the Robotics Teams, and we thank our parents and leaders that continue to support this program. We wish all four teams luck in the finals.
April 12th– PSAT for 8th Grade, Adjusted Start for 7th Grade: Wednesday, April 12th is a very important day for both 7th and 8th grade students. 8th grade students will be taking the PSAT, which is a required standardized assessment that assesses both Math and ELA skills. 8th grade students will come to school as usual, and the assessment will be given in the morning. 7th graders, however, will not come to school until 11:10. There will be two bus runs this day: one in the morning for 8th grade and another later in the morning for 7th grade. Lunch will be served to both groups of students, and all students will attend all classes on a modified schedule from 11:20 forward. For 8th grade parents, please note that if your student is absent on April 12th, they will have to take the assessment the next day they return to school. State standardized testing requirements are extremely lock-step; we must test all students. Therefore, attendance for both 8th and 7th grade students on April 12th is vital. We will have more detailed information regarding April 12th in the upcoming April 7th newsletter; in addition, we will send reminders to both sets of parents via school messenger as we get closer to the 12th. We appreciate parent support here as well.
Trimester 2 Honor Roll: We would also like to take this opportunity to celebrate our students that demonstrated excellent academic achievement during the second trimester. We know that high academic achievement is also supported and maintained on the homefront, so we also thank our parents for their continued support in prioritizing work (school and academics) before play.
Report Cards: Second trimester report cards are available to parents in PowerSchool. Please note, however, parents should use an actual computer–not the PowerSchool application on mobile devices–to access report cards at this time. It usually takes an additional week or so for information like this to show up on the cell phone app.
Joint Hayes/Beagle PTO Meetings: The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 11th. We welcome parents to attend our PTO meetings either in-person here at Beagle or virtually. If interested in attending virtually, here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994
