Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:

Food Drive Extended Through Monday: We thank our families for supporting our food drive this week.  As of today, we have collected roughly 450 or so non-perishable items, so we are extending the food drive through Monday next week in an effort to reach our goal of 800 items.  As an extra incentive, the first-hour class that brings in the most donations on Monday, Dec. 19th will receive a breakfast treat of donuts and juice later in the week.  Food items collected are being donated to Mount Hope Church for the holiday season. We thank Mr. Jones and his Check and Connect students for their tremendous efforts towards this project.

Lunchtime Concert: We also wanted to thank the Grand Ledge Area District Library, specifically Lise Mitchell and Jean Fellows for working orchestrating a lunch-time concert for our students this past Tuesday.  In addition, we thank Shawne VanSteeland, from Audio Logic DJ, and Taylor Taylor, a local musician, for taking the time to host an amazing concert for our students here at Beagle.  We look forward to hosting additional lunchtime concerts in the months to come.

Holiday Concerts:  Our band, led by Mrs. Zerman, put on a wonderful holiday concert last week at the high school. Next week on Tuesday at 7pm, our choir, led by Ms. Laskaris and Mr. Dade, will perform their holiday concert at the high school, and we encourage the community to come out for the show!  Doors open at 6:30pm, and there is no charge. We thank our band and choir students for their continued dedication and hard work, and we thank our parents and community members for their continued support as well.

German Adventure: Last Friday, our 8th grade German class went on the first annual field trip to Frankenmuth.  Students enjoyed a day of German culture in Michigan's Little Bavaria.  Students explored the downtown before going to the Bavarian Inn for a baking class on pretzels and learning the famous "Schnitzelbank" song.  After making pretzels, the students enjoyed a German lunch followed by a visit to the Frankenmuth Historical Society museum where they learned about German immigrants and their contributions in Michigan.  The adventure was topped off with a short visit to Bronners' Christmas Wonderland before heading home.  Thank you to the parents who volunteered to drive and chaperone!  We could not have done this trip without you.  -Mr. Holman, German teacher, BMS/GLHS

Holiday Spirit Next Week: Students and staff are looking forward to bringing in holiday break next week as follows:

  • Monday–7th grade wears red; 8th grade wears green
  • Tuesday–flannel shirt day
  • Wednesday–holiday sweater
  • Thursday–holiday hat

Winter Break: December 23rd-January 6th.  Classes resume on Monday, January 9th.

First Trimester Honor Roll:  Our first trimester honor roll students have updated on our website: https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/beagle-middle-school/honorroll/1st-trimester/.  We thank our honor roll students for their continued hard work and dedication to their studies and demonstrating Comet PRIDE.
