Dear Beagle Middle School Parents,

Here are some updates we wanted to share at this time:

STEAM Showcase at Beagle: Thursday, May 18th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.  This will be Beagle Middle School’s first annual STEAM Showcase. Come see what the STEM and Art kids have been up to this year. The theme is TOP SECRET and will be revealed when the doors open at 6:00 pm. Shove It Pizza and the Grand Ledge Robotics Team, Slapbots, will be here to help us celebrate the Arts & STEM programs. This open house event is open to the entire community so bring your family and friends!

District-Wide Logo, Final Call: One of the goals in our strategic plan is to create a symbol, or logo, that we can use throughout the district to highlight our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming place for all of our students, staff, families, and community members. To those ends, we have put together a design contest for students. Information about the contest can be found here: GLPS District Wide Inclusive Logo Contest.pdf , or on flyers that can be found in our school buildings. Please encourage your student to submit an entry; it may be the one that is chosen to be displayed throughout the district!  We thank those students that have already submitted their designs!

Grand Ledge Robotics Club Spring Open House:  The Grand Ledge Robotics Club Open House will be hosted on May 11th, 7 pm, at the Sawdon Administration building.  Please click here for more information: 2023 Spring Open House Flyer.pdf

MSTEP Testing 7th Grade: 7th-grade MSTEP testing for ELA and Math will begin next week within ELA and Math classes.  7th graders will take the ELA MSTEP beginning May 2nd; they will engage in the Math MSTEP beginning May 9th.

MSTEP Testing 8th Grade: MSTEP testing (Social Studies and Science) for our 8th graders will begin the week of May 8th.

Spring NWEA Testing: Spring NWEA testing will take place across two days: May 15th (ELA) and May 23rd (Math).  We will use the same format as we did in the winter: NWEA testing in the AM followed by an altered schedule in the PM.

May 17th–7th Grade Lugnuts, 8th Grade Activities at Beagle: 7th graders will be heading to the Lansing Lugnuts School Day on May 17th. We are also actively planning fun, engaging activities here at Beagle for our 8th graders on the 17th as well; we will share more information in subsequent newsletters.  We are looking forward to the 17th for our students as it will be a nice break from all of the standardized testing that comes each year in the spring!

Kona Ice: Kona Ice will be visiting Beagle several times over the remainder of the school year.  Students have a chance to purchase a sweet treat as part of their nutritious school lunch.  Prices range from $4 to $7.  All proceeds go to support Beagle PBIS programs and rewards.  Look for Kona Ice on the following Fridays: May 5th, May 19th, June 2nd, and June 16th.

Joint Hayes/Beagle PTO Meetings: The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30 pm.  We welcome parents to attend our PTO meetings either in person here at Beagle or virtually.  If interested in attending virtually, here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994
