Dear Hayes Parents,

We had another great week at Hayes with students in the building!  Students continue to mask up and socially distance on a consistent basis.  More importantly, students are able to connect with one another in classrooms, during lunch, and while transitioning between classes; it is so refreshing to watch students engage socially!  Thank you to our parents that transport their children to and from school as this has been running very smoothly and efficiently; adhering to these expectations helps to keep everyone safe.

Third Trimester

Thank you, parents, for filling out the third trimester survey!  We are actively reviewing this data to ensure that both in-person and virtual students have the fewest disruptions to their schedules as possible.  For our in-person return families, please note that the district’s plan for third trimester return has to be approved by our school board on Monday, March 22nd.  Once that plan is approved, we will send a plethora of information to our in-person return trimester three families via email, so please keep a close eye on your email the week of March 22nd.  As always, we will be sure to provide our parents and students with necessary information to ensure a smooth, calm, and efficient transition to in-person return.  More to come here, so please stay tuned!

Third trimester conferences are next week.  If you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet, please see the information below that we sent out in the newsletter last week.  Please note that you are able to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher up to the day before the conference.

Hayes Middle School Parent Conferences will be held virtually on Tuesday, March 16th, and Wednesday, March 17th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm., and Friday, March 19, 2021 from 12:00pm - 3:00 pm.

Conferences will be utilizing Zoom for the meetings with teachers this trimester. Sign-up through is now open. Please go to for detailed information and to sign up.

Once you have completed scheduling all of your conferences, an appointment confirmation email will be sent. Simply click on the Zoom Conference Link for each teacher (in your email) at your conference time and you will be admitted into the teachers “waiting room” for your personal parent teacher conference. **Please keep your confirmation email as your notice of when your conferences are and to have your zoom links available. The middle school will not have a copy of your conference schedule.

Please also note, that Counselors will also be available during conferences if you wish to make an appointment to speak with a counselor, please email:

Laurel Miller (students last names A-K)

Stephanie Taylor (students last names L-Z)

Picture Retakes

Picture retakes will be on Thursday, March 25 from 4:30-6:30pm.  If you missed the last school picture opportunity and/or would like to have your student’s picture retaken, then please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity.  We do understand that this date is not ideal, but please understand that we have to work around Geskus, our private party photographer, in scheduling these events.  If you would like to send a selfie of your student to appear in the yearbook in lieu of getting a school photograph, then please email that photo to Mrs. Jennie Hernandez at  Please note that not all selfies may make it into the yearbook due to resolution quality, and selfies will just be placed together without student names nearby.

Registration is now open for the 2021 Spring Grand Ledge Lacrosse Season! Please click here for more information: Lacrosse.  The link provided has a plethora of information regarding upcoming clinics and registering for the season, grade 3-8.

Covid Hotline

The district has developed a “Covid Hotline” for parents to report confirmed Covid cases and exposure to confirmed Covid cases.  The Covid Hotline number is 517-925-5725.  Please use this hotline to report cases, and please also call our office at 517-925-5680.

These are all the announcements that we have for now.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Dave and Eric
