Dear Hayes Parents,

This past week came and went very quickly!  Students really enjoyed Kona Ice and Pajama Day yesterday.  Next Thursday, it will be Hat Day, and Kona Ice will be here again.

With the year winding down, we wanted to send out a few new announcements regarding next school year.  First, we do not know when orientation (schedules, pictures, and touring building) will be at Beagle Middle School next August, and this is due to the building still being under construction during the month of August.  We will send out information to parents regarding orientation via email as soon as we get the all clear to do so mid-to-late August.  Second, student schedules for middle schoolers next year will be available in later August; we too will send out an email to both parents and students that schedules are available.  Students and parents will not be able to view student schedules until later August within PowerSchool as we are actively building our master schedule at this time for next year.

The following information is a repeat from last week’s newsletter. Please note that our technology department will be reaching out to parents that have school-issued Chromebooks and/or hotspots this upcoming week.

Material Drop Off

For our virtual families, we will continue to keep the table outside of our main entrance open for virtual families to return school-issued resources (novels, textbooks, etc.) as we have been doing for the past few weeks.  If you find anything lingering around the house, please feel free to place it on the table.  We appreciate your support here.

Chromebook and Hotspot Collection

For all students with a school-issued Chromebook and/or hotspot, the district will be collecting Chromebooks at Grand Ledge High School:

Friday, June 18, 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Tuesday, June 22, 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Thursday, June 24, 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Our technology department will be sending more specific information via email to all families that have signed out a device for their student(s).  Please watch for that email to come over the next two weeks.

For Current 8th Grade Families: Testing Out of High School Courses

The Test Out information is now live on the Student Services website:

https://www.glcomets.net/ourschools/high-school-grades-9---12/grandledgehighschool/counselingstudent-services/#testingout. Parents interested in having their child test out of high school courses should contact Mrs. Tonya Rice, assistant principal, for textbooks prior to the end of the year via email at ricet@glcomets.net.  Textbooks will be available for checkout from June 8-June 17.  Assessments will be given on August 16th and 17th at 10 AM, 1PM and 4 PM.   Students are asked to select a test time when they complete the application.

For Families Leaving Grand Ledge Next Year

We are making plans for the 21-22 school year already!   If you know that your child will not be attending GLPS next year, please send an email to pedrazaj@glcomets.net with your child's name, next year's grade and state that he or she will not be attending.

The Barry-Eaton Health Department will be hosting free, drive-thru Covid testing tomorrow, June 5th, from 10am-4pm at the BEHD Barry County Office located at 330 West Woodland Ave., Hastings, MI 49058.
