EngageMI
December 6, 2021
We are pleased to announce we have entered into a partnership with a program called EngageMI. This program, funded by the Michigan legislature and a part of Graduation Alliance, is set up to provide assistance for students who need support in academics or attendance.
We know that families and students are facing unique challenges, and we endeavor to ensure that we connect those who need it with resources for success. We have identified students in GLPS who fall below the 30 percentile on the math or reading portions of the NWEA in grades kindergarten through 8th or students who failed multiple classes in the first trimester in grades 7th through 12th. Our next step is to provide the names and contact information of those students to our partners at EngageMI so they can begin to provide resources for the students and their families. More information about the program can be found here (please note that the “Opt In Now” blue buttons are for district use – and we have already opted in; parents do not need to opt in).
Only students who fall into one of the categories listed above will be entered into the program, and as parents, you have the opportunity to opt out if you choose to do so. If your student falls into one of the identified categories and you would like to opt out of the supports provided, please use this form to indicate your preference by 5:00pm on Friday, 12/10/21.
Thank you; as always, GLPS is committed to providing assistance for all of our students, and helping to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
If you have questions, please contact assistant superintendent for academic services Dr. Bill Barnes at barnesw1@glcomets.net. Thank you; #proudtobeacomet!
