Grand Ledge High School Summer School Registration

Students attending summer school will earn credit for courses using the Edgenuity Online Program with certified teachers available to assist students in successfully completing their course(s). Each course completed with a passing grade will fulfill the requirement of 1.0 credit. No grade will be assigned because this is credit recovery. There is a required final exam for each course. Students are required to attend class daily and to be present for their final exam, which must be proctored. Students may continue to work and ask questions about course content outside of the session time and may contact a staff member via email to add retakes and/or reset sections outside of the session time during designated time periods. These time periods will be established once staff has been assigned to summer school. GLHS WILL NOT provide computers or internet service outside of the program hours.  

*Credit Recovery courses through Edgenuity are not NCAA Eligible* 

Attendance:

Students must be in attendance and remain in room 309 for the entire session for 16 days, for the entire session time.  If illness arises, a doctor’s note must be provided.

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday

June 19, 2017 - July 20, 2017

No sessions July 3 - July 7

Session:

Session 1: 8am - 10am

Session 2: 10am - 12pm

Fees: $150 per session per student - (Scholarships available for qualifying students)

  • All classes will be held at Grand Ledge High School in room 309
  • Registration and class fees are due by FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2017.  
  • All fees must be collected prior to the beginning of class.  
  • No refunds will be made for withdrawals after TUESDAY, JUNE 13, 2017.
  • Summer school is contingent upon adequate enrollment.
  • Enrollment is 1st come 1st serve and GLHS students will be given priority seating.
  • If students fail to attend without a doctor’s note, they will be dropped.
  • Courses that are not completed will be considered an F.

Your student is responsible for the preapproval of summer school courses.  A High School Counselor, Case Manager or administrator MUST approve your application.

Scholarships available for qualifying students

Payment needs to be made in cash, money order or cashier’s check.

No personal checks will be accepted.

Please make cashier’s check or money orders payable to: Grand Ledge Public Schools. Payment should be delivered to the Grand Ledge High School Student Services Office.

Summer School +1 Credits for Advancement

Summer School +1 Credits for Advancement

Grand Ledge High School has partnered with Michigan Virtual University (MVU) to provide online courses that will meet Michigan Merit Curriculum Requirements. Michigan Merit Curriculum through MVU is also NCAA approved. GLHS WILL NOT provide computers or internet service. Students must have access to a computer and the internet outside of the school building to complete their daily assignments.

MVU courses begin June 5, 2017 and end August 11, 2017. You may begin these courses June 14th (without penalty) but the course will still need to be completed by August 11, 2017.

You and your parent/guardian are encouraged to attend a short orientation session June 14, 2017 at 8am, 11am or June 15, 2017 at 5pm or 7pm.

MVU provides a teacher and GLHS will provide a mentor teacher to help monitor progress and assist with questions that arise from the curriculum. You will be required to attend school June 19, 2017 through June 22, 201, from 8am-10am or 10am-12pm, in order to ensure your success. You will then check in with your mentor teacher, on Tuesday, via a pre arranged phone conversation June 27th until August 8th and again on Friday, August 11th. Most courses will require over an hour, each day, in order to complete your course(s) by August 11, 2017.

Course Cost :

320.00 per course for Grand Ledge Students

350.00 per course for all others

Any drops after June 30, 2017 WILL NOT be refunded
