Mrs. Cleeves

Welcome to Holbrook Early Childhood Center!  My name is Breanna Cleeves and I am the Supervisor of the Little Comets Preschool Program here at Holbrook.  Preschool is such an exciting, impressionable time in a child’s life.  It is a special time when children develop a love for learning.  I am always amazed at the developments that occur over the school year within each child.  Watching our students grow is a favorite part of my job! They are not only learning letters, numbers, and how to write, but are also developing positive attitudes toward independence, exploration, cooperation, motivation, and creativity.  I feel very fortunate to be working amongst a group of supportive, inspiring, early childhood professionals.  What an amazing team I have!

In 2008, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I recently obtained my Master’s Degree in Instruction and Curriculum in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.  Prior to re-opening Holbrook, I enjoyed teaching preschool in Atlanta and in the Lansing area.  I also taught full-day Kindergarten for four years.  When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, boating, shopping, and down-hill skiing.  I have a passion for interior design and enjoy decorating and re-decorating my home in Grand Ledge.  My husband and I have two beautiful children who bring so much joy to our lives!

Hello, my name is Lindsey Fender and I am so excited to be teaching with the Little Comets Preschool program!  I am a graduate of Grand Valley State Universtiy, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with a major in social studies.  I am currently working towards my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.  From 2011-2014 I was the lead preschool teacher for ages three to five at Haslett Child Development Center.  During the 2014-2015 school year I was a substitute teacher for pre-k through sixth grade right here in the Grand Ledge school district.  My husband and I have two children; a daughter, Piper, and a son, Liam.  I enjoy camping with my family in the summers and spending as much time with my children as possible.  Preschoolers make my work fun and I so enjoy getting to watch these little minds discover and learn everyday with such excitement!

Hi!  My name is Maria Dionise.  I graduated from Michigan State University in 2012.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Letters with a minor in Education and Spanish.  I recently have gone back to school to obtain a ZA Early Childhood endorsement.  I have always worked in preschool!  During college, I was a preschool aide and in years prior I was a lead teacher at Little Shamrock’s Preschool.  I also taught ballet at the Hannah Community Center for many years.  I love working in preschool because the children's minds are like sponges, they pick up on everything so quickly!  We do fun art projects in my class as well as lots of learning.  We spend a lot of time learning and speaking Spanish in my class.  My favorite season is fall, my favorite color is purple and I love going to the movie theatre!

             PIC RUIZ 15-16

Hello, my name is Jill Ruiz and I am the lead teacher in the part-time preschool classroom. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well rounded, responsible, and successful individuals.  Throughout the course of my career, I have had wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, and those who were gifted/exceptional.  As a result, I have been proficient at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, hands-on approach to learning, and keep students interested and focused.  I am a graduate of Western Michigan University, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood endorsement. In my free time, I love spending time with my children, reading, photography, exercising and spending time with friends and family.

Hello, my name is Taurie Davis and I am the lead teacher in the four-year-old preschool classroom.  I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a ZS endorsement for Early Childhood Education.  I am eager to put my education and experience to use within the classroom.  Prior to joining the Little Comets team, I spent two years as a Camp Counselor in Jackson and three years as an Art Coordinator at a summer camp in Ann Arbor.  I am very passionate about art and enjoy finding new ways to reach children with art projects.  In my free time, I like to color in coloring books and draw my own designs to color.  I also love to explore the world around me through reading and look forward to sharing this love with my students this year!
